Default Where's your favorite place to day hike?

Ours are several state parks in the Chicago area. In particular, Starved Rock.

local golf coarse,
i know how to turn a 6.5 kilometer golf coarse into a twelve kilometre trek.

if only they would call them fairway fee's instead of green fee's i would never have to pay.
at times like this ,i should have gone fishing 24 hours in a day,24 stubbies in a carton, coincidence.?

I saw a sign that said:-caution small children playing,so i slowed down.then i remembered i am not scared of small children

Got a few places.

Really close to my town is Horsetooth Mountain Park and Lory State Park. Drive a little further, there's Rocky Mountain National Park.

In Colorado, we're not cursed with a lack of places to hike...

The local club here has a nice hike trail.. I go hike on it every 3~4 days. That's the only good place of hiking that I know of that's very close to me.

There are some lovely places near Washington DC that I hike through quite often. There's the Great Falls park and the Difficult Run Park. Definitely worth looking into if you're in the area.

I also went to Zion National Park in Utah last October. That was so much fun.

Eagle Cap Wilderness in Northeastern Oregon, bordering the Snake River. Rugged mountains and glacial valleys. Deer, Elk, Cougars, Mountain Goats galore. Heaven on Earth. Spent 12 days there and climbed 3 passes, all over 8,000 feet elevation.

Good evening. Several years ago, 3 of my canoeing buddies and myself started walking along the Elgin Trail in southern Ontario. We have walked the Elgin Trail, the Thames Valley Trail, the Avon Trail and completed the Elora and Cataract Trailways (combo trails). The last trail ended at the Bruce Trail, at Mono Mills (north of Toronto). During this past winter, we came over and hill and could see Georgain Bay and Collingwood ON. We still have a little over 400 Km to reach Tobermory. That will take us about 3 years. We get out about 4 times a year.

THE* WHITE PINE TRAIL is the closest thing thats easy to get to. There are a few other really short hikes around, but its flat here.

When I lived in Colorado, I had tons of choices.. I miss those days.

I LOVE Starved Rock! Especially French Canyon!

I live a stone's throw from Kankakee River State Park, and Midewin Tallgrass Prairie, and as such I go hiking there every now and then.

South Downs, OK I'm in England but they make for some beautiful walks... Not too far from where I live.
