Default Blue Ray Disks & Players Not Doing So Well in Sales.

it has been announced yesterday, that Blue Ray Disks have not been doing very well. Not as well as the tried and true regular DVD's.

Movies in this format cost about $10 to $15 higher that the ones on regular DVD's. Plus the pure fact that in order to watch these
supposedly specially-rated HD disks, you need a Blue Ray DISK PLAYER, WHICH COSTS EVEN MORE MONEY!

It seems that the extremely high price of the players which are needed to view movies on the disks are astronomically ridiculous.

Top analysts say that the regular DVD's and their players which are much cheaper, are still holding their own and are still strong sellers.

I just bought a Sony DVD player, new, for under $50. I think people are hesitant to shift to a new format when the older one works as well as it does.

I know I'm in no hurry to get a High def TV, blue ray, or any of the other new stuff. Then again, I watch so little TV anymore, and what little I do watch is news or documentry. I rent movies here and there, but I just don't have that aching desire for brighter colors or whatever you get out of high def.

I didn't buy a BD-Player yet. I got two fullhd TVs though.

I watch football (soccer) in HDTV and on occasion I get a film via ip-tv/video-on-demand in HD.

I don't watch TV on a regular base but well, it's nice for those few occasions when friends come over to watch football on a big screen.

TVs got pretty cheap, you get a pretty decent one for about 1000€ already.

Another thing about BD-players and sales, I'm not sure if they will hit off the same way dvds did.

iptv on a large scale is approaching fast.

Julian

I'm like this;

Why should I spend more money for Blue Ray technology - buying the disks and then a player to watch them on?

The cost of a Blue Ray player is ridiculous! I already had to get a DVR in order to be able to record from the HD flat screen TV because I can no longer us the VCR for recording from it - only playback.

I'm not getting into Blue Ray technology because it is way too expensive!
