Default Sci-fi tv series

I thought I open a topic like this, cos I like them very much, and I'd like to know what other people think about them.

My favourites are:
Firefly
Stargate
Babylon 5
The 4400
Battlestar Galactica
Heroes
Sliders

Of course I saw some Star Trek too(who's not? ), but not a whole series together. Maybe the best is Deep Space Nine. The first three will be the absolute favourite forever I think. It's so sad that Firefly has so few episodes.

edit: is Highlander(the series with Adrian Paul) counts for sci-fi? Cos I like it too very much.

One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them;
One ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them.

I'd pretty much agree with your list there, but I never really got into Babylon 5 or the 4400. I would include Doctor Who (I've only seen the new series, but it's Fantastic) and if Highlander counts.

Farscape is also a great show and should never have been cancelled. Thankfully it's played on the 'CW' at least in Michigan sunday nights.

- Does Stargate include SG1 and Atlantis, because as much as I like SG1 I've really been more into Atlantis lately (just can't get behind the Ori storyline)

stargate is classic. I own seasons 1-9 on dvd, not that im a huge fan or anything. But the show has been around for 10 years...Buy one season, buy another etc, it all all adds up. Great storylines and classic quotes. Ive also watched star trek TNG. Considerably better then all the others, from what Ive seen. Enterprise season 3/4 had its moments. And highlander has to be science fiction, the storyline was so well thought-out for that series.

Stargate did loose a bit of that initial quality which was present in the first 7 seasons. The ori storyline is good in theory, but it should have been stretched out and developed more. I dont like how the creatures closest to gods were thwarted in 2 seasons, yet the gould with all their stupid cliched bad guy tactics were around for 8. Atlantis has a real good idea with the wraith.

Although the origional replicators has to be one of the best ideas for a bad guy. A childs toy that ends up just wanting to eat and multiply, genius!

Well, just planned two watch the two other series(Dr. Who and Farscape) you mentioned.

Well, Atlantis is not bad, but the old Stargate(-SG-1) was much more better. Mostly the 4-5-6 seasons. When I say Stargate, I always think about the original series, because the hungarian title only contain that. I'm very curious about the next Stargate spin-off though. And the two dvd films are soming too.

Originally they planned to start a new series with the ori, but ended up keeping the name in the sake of more mony maybe. With the ori, stargate became fantasy, instead of sci-fi. I haven't liked it very much, and glad they stopped it.

About Atlantis. If you think about that, the storyline was the same with Rising, it really resembles Children of The God. The 3rd season brought a change into this, with a more darker concept, I think it was good for the show.

Stargate SG1, unfortunately there are only 5 or 6 shows left in the series. I saw this coming when Richard Dean Anderson left.
Stargate Atlantis
Babylon 5
Dune
Children of Dune
Firefly, couldn't really get into the show but the movie was excileant
Space Above And Beyond

Serenity was the end of Firefly, you should really see the series, it's only 14 episodes ( ), and a little different and IMO better than the movie.

Dune is fine, but only in book.

Agreed, the older seasons for Stargate SG1 were the best by far. I kinda lost interest when Richard Dean Anderson left the show. But I am looking forward to the DVD's. They sound pretty interesting. And I read that Christopher Judge (Teal'c) and Michael Shanks (Daniel) are going to be in a new series that Judge created. Something about a fallen angel, sounded pretty good.

Farscape is probably one of my favorite Sci-fi shows, it was well written and acted and so far fetched that you can't help but like it. It has all kinds of crazy charecters and costums. A lot of it was done by Jim Hensens company (the muppets).

And Doctor Who is well, Doctor Who.

Hmm, thats a tough one. Dont watch a lot of sci-fi series. Actually closer to zero than just one.

With good chance of offending a lot of people, I would say Stargate is a complete waste of time.

I have only watched two episodes of Firefly, but I would say it is pretty cool. More of a western actually.

Does the X-files count? Because thats one of my favorite series of all time. And also one of the few I actually liked. Some were better than others, but those that were good are forever imprinted in my memory!

I think a good argument could be made that most TV is a waste of time , but that doesn't make it any less entertaining.

I'd say the x-files counts, not my favorite, but certainly sci-fi-ish

And I've forgotten about Battlestar Galactica(how could I?). I'll put in into my list. The 3rd season is not so good that the other two, but the actors playing pretty well, and it's a good sci-fi drama.

I watched some X-files on tv occasionally too. So I think I'm a real sci-fi fan.

Yeah, Farscape, Firefly, Stargate, Doctor Who, Heroes, BSG, they are all top shows.

I like The Dresden Files too, got into that show.

What about Daybreak? Not strictly sci-fi apart from his 'groundhog day' happening, but still I like the show

Would you count Lost in there too? It's fiction, with a little science, well certainly unexplained stuff anyway

I've never seen any of those. I don't watch much TV. I did rent all the available seasons of "Lost" that are on DVD. That's close enough to Sci Fi for me. And a damn good series too.
