The dome of water surrounding the island will collapse...Then they'll REALLY be in purgatory.

I watch Lost here on MBC4 whenever I'm free. Though we're still on season 1 here, it's turning out to be an exciting show.

I quit watching about mid-season on the second bout. It started getting a little too out there. Same thing happened with Alias, JJ Abrams' other show. He was a better comic book writer: out there works in the land of comics, not prime time tv. The Desmond/Charlie stuff this season was a bit more interesting to me, but not enough to make me watch it. If it's on I might kinda stay in the living room a few more minutes before I pass through to my bedroom, where the computers, loud stereo, books, and vodka are.

JJ Abrams only wrote the pilot, the finales, and the premieres of each season. It's more Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse's show. So disliking it for the patters an unrelated show made seems irrational. And all those apparently "out there" things will be tied up. It's not a show like ER or Smallville that'll go till they lose money. They planned five seasons, and ABC just announced that the final two seasons will be split up into three. They're not just wingin' it. :

I almost bailed it for the same reason, I stuck with it though and its come back down to earth a lot, just a bit of the spooky/supernatural thing left we've not had an explanation for yet. Overall, persevere through the wacky section and it gets better imo.

I watch it religiously and I've given up predicting what's going to happen next because they always throw in a new twist or mystery.

That said, I think Charlie is going to die, Claire and Aaron are going to get off the island, and Sawyer, Sayid and Jack and Locke are going to be killed by the others. There. Having said that, it stands to reason none of it will happen because I'm never right.

A bit off-topic, has anyone else had problems with ABC's video player? I went to watch a show on their site and it told me it's only available for MS and Mac now. I wrote them a very nasty note telling them there were other viewing alternatives if they withdraw support from my platform of choice, but I'm really hoping I just overlooked something.

Yeah, me too, love the show, but given up trying to second guess what's gonna happen, polar bears, the smoke monster thing popping up now and again, and all the weirdness with the others makes it interesting, tho

Just hope they do a good enough job of answering all the questions by the end, as each season has left me with more questions that they have answered so far. Which gets you hooked I suppose

I have to admit... my eyes were a little leaky when Charlie was in the lock and the water came in. But I refuse to believe he's really gone. He'll come back. I hope.

And in true Lost form... what's with that last scene between Jack and Kate?
Weeeeeeiiiiiirrrrd!!!!

Seems everyone now thinks I hate JJ, Lost, and all things supernatural in television. That's just not the way it is. Lost just took a turn I didn't like, so I stopped watching it. The only reason I brought up Alias was because the same man is credited with creating it as well as Lost, and because for the time both shows were running, you could see a definite deterioration in both shows' quality.

I still think JJ is a better comic writer. I also think Lost would have made for a great comic series, just not tv. That's just my opinion and I am entitled to it just as much as you are to yours.

Obviously it's your opinion, and I'm using mine to say you're wrong and you aren't being fair. Whether or not you like the direction of the plotlines does not make or break a show. Pay attention to the style. The transitions, music, acting, dialogue, all the cliffhangers...What makes LOST so great is we can never pinpoint an answer given on the show but by the end of the season we know worlds more about the topic of the season. Look at the end of the first season, up until that point it's been about character conflicts and development and building the raft and "who poisoned Michael," and as soon as they blew open the hatch the entire story changed. Flash-foward to the end of the second season when we know all about the hatch, and the characters are blowing it up. That's some great development. But we never met anyone who just said all of the answers. We were indirectly shown more and more and that's what makes it such a great work of art. Look at the beginning of the third season. Kate is a handcuffed and eating breakfast on the beach with Ben, who is sure that his plans will work, and flash foward to the finale where he is tied to a tree and all the survivors are just about to get onto helicopters and get rescued. You might not like that the island natives are immortal or that there are polar bears, but this show is not being made by dummies who want to make some money. This is art.
