| Interested participant | has to be one of the greatest shows ever. I know its old, and I dunno how many people here have seen it, but I can quote most of it by heart :-). Scrubs is amazing too, they're similar (both sitcoms) but have there own distinct styles. Joey (the spin-off of scrubs) was ok, but it died. haha, just watching some friends right now, and thought i'd share. cheers, Trab |

| Level 37 Bureaucrat | That was delightfully random. I'm not a big Friends fan, i watched a few of them but it's too much like the generic sitcom I've seen (no exaggeration) thousands of episodes of. You can tell how it'll end within the first few minutes. I've been in a movie mood the last few weeks, but even when I'm in a slightly-tuned-off-brain mode and feel like watching rubbish drama like Stargate SG-1 and sitting by the tv remote waiting to see who Neela from ER is going to hook up with, the brainless sitcoms like Friends are just a little too lacking for me ![]() Last edited by Moniker42 : 05-14-2007 at 10:11 PM. | Drank to much Mountain Dew | There is a lot of good tv-shows that are not american. One of my favorite all-time tv-series is the german "Heimat" 1-3. It sketches the lives of german families through the second world war, the sixties and the re-uniting of germany. I liked "Roots" too. Im not so font of "Friends", but I liked "Cheers" and "Frasier". I was a big fan of "24" too. Especially the second and the fifth season. I love this corrupt Nixon-like presidential figure. Last edited by lakersforce : 05-15-2007 at 06:10 AM. |

| I have the whole series on DVD. I believe I can say with authority that the first four seasons were totally r0xz0r. The other six... not so much. They have some good episodes, but as a whole... nah. |

| Level 37 Bureaucrat | I think it's almost impossible for any sitcom to go on for more than 2-3 seasons without running low on ideas and spreading the plot too thinly. I don't know what it is, but they just loose something. I do watch rather a lot of sitcoms (or have in the past) but almost without exception they are shallow and can be watched with half a brain cell switched on. If you're at all awake while watching sitcoms (like many formulated movies, usually action) you can tell how it'll end before it's started. I watch pretty much all varieties of film and tv programme, but i guess you could have a ranking scale of how likely the programme is to be absolute pish based on what genre it is without knowing anything else about the show. Reality TV and sitcoms would be near the bottom and work your way up to documentaries and big-budget dramas (although there are plenty of rotten documentaries and dramas out there, and a scarce few good reality TV concepts :P) |

| Friends Forever still plays on MBC4 here. I liked Scrubs, but it was too short(atleast what was played here). Regarding Sitcoms, I only have a selection of what the local channel plays. Right now, it's playing Everybody Hates Chris(OK) and The Bernie Mac Show, 2nd season(didn't watch it yet) Extreme Coder |
