do baseball players stay consistant? or, do they all have slumps? i have a kind of mutual fund approach to fantasy football, so that if i have a top rated player doing poorly, i know he'll eventually pull it out (like chad johnson last year and shawn alexander his record setting year). i don't know how long to stick with someone. like, is mussina done?

Baseball players go into slumps often, probably 3 or 4 times per year (162 games). I doubt Mussina is done, he's been too good for too long. I once heard a pitcher say that out of 30 starts, they are feeling good during about 5 or 6 of those starts, the rest is a struggle. Hitters come out of slumps faster because they get to play everyday. I haveen't seen Mussina pitch yet this year but, he's real smart.

Is this about baseball or baseball players? Who else do you have on your team?

Edit: Players go into slumps for probably 30 to 40 games per year. I think that is a better indicator then x times per year..Some slumps are prolonged and not as often...Starting pitchers; good, experienced ones maybe 5 starts.
