It was 1994. Fuckin' won 3-2 in a penalty shootout after the game AND stoppage time ended in a 0-0 game.

I never forgave Roberto Baggio for missing that last shot... but I still respect him.

It was traumatic for me, too. I cried, I was so heart broken. He had been my hero for the Cup until that moment.

About three years later my family bought a beautiful chandelier imported from Italy. When we unpacked, something caught my eye. My mom thought it was neat that parts were wrapped in Italian newspaper. But me?

I saw Baggio. Headlines in Italian, from the middle of the Cup, praising him. It was bittersweet.

LOL! That's so funny! 3 years later and u still got stuck with the memory....Maybe it's fate? U know what I'm dreading? World Cup Italy vs. Germany! I always take Italy's side when they are playing, but I will be heart broken for Germany if the lose and vice versa...

I'm going Germany, all the way. If Italy plays Germany, SCREW ITALY.

In fact, I've had a hard time giving them my all since '94. I've never cheered for them with my whole heart since. Germany is a team I can give everything to, and get something back. The expectations are high, but not so high as to destroy my love for them.

When my mother returns from Paris, she said she will bring me back "something world cup." I asked for something German. =)

ARGHH!! How dare you! I can pray for Italy and still not tell Germany to screw themselves....My heart is with Italy but I have great respect for Germany. Would still want Italy to win if they were playing against each other and if I am crying over an Italy loss, i'll still feel good for Germany. No hatred at all with that pairing. But yeah, if you say screw Italy, I'll screw you back...LOL! I mean that in the kindest of ways. TRUST me.

I was hoping u wouldn't say that.....

Normally, I wouldn't choose in this instance, but for you, I'll do it. I have people in both places, so...

In all honesty, though, I think Spain will win...shoe-in so to speak..SO GO SPAIN

Yeah, Spain will likely win.

And as for my Italy comments, that's a heat of the moment thing. I, too, mean "screw you, Italy!" in the best way possible. No one who cried over Italy's loss in '94 would completely turn her back on the team =)

Wow. That really should have been a penalty kick for Tunisia! Even I saw that arm raise and that hand go up on Ukraine's side!
