I watch Pride on and off. Haven't for a few months though. Cro-Cop was my fav. Too bad he jumped to UFC. Never really got into any other organization besides Pride. Is Pride gone now? I knew they were in financial trouble and crap.

i think pride got sold, but i don't know to whom (with crocop, rampage and a few others jumping to the ufc, i'm thinking zuffa might have been the buyer). i guess you know about crocop getting his head kicked in by gonzaga? he might have messed up his knee when he fell, too. i'd love to see the emelianenkos in the ufc. it'll be interesting to see if rampage will "whip chuck's ass".

Woah. I did not know about Cro-Cop vs Gonzaga. I followed his first fight in the UFC but have been out of the MMA scope for a while. I will have to read up. Damn!

MMA is awesome! I don't get to watch it as often as I'd like, but I do every chance I get. I've been a fan since UFC #1.

Ahh, the thinking man's martial art. Also the thinking man's marital art (if he has any sense).

I actually prefer boxing, but UFC and Pride are pretty entertaining.

UFC is hilarious. Should be renamed Ultimate Pillow Fighting. Fat men in tight pants mauling each other... dear me. Whatever floats your boat I guess. I've never understood the appeal of sports martial arts, which is ironic as I've trained for 22 years. I guess the ring is something thats never really appealed to me.

koshatnik, i'm not sure i understand your thoughts on ufc. aside from some of the heavyweights, everyone is pretty lean in the ufc (having to make weight and all). is it the mixing of artforms that bothers you?

No not at all. The pointless circus of it all I just find bemusing. Its all about little men trying to look big. I guess its the antithesis of who I am.

you could make an argument for almost anything being a pointless circus (opera comes to mind). from what i've seen of mma fighters, the best ones seem to be an unusually humble lot (i'm thinking liddell, couture, nog, fedor).

Yeah, thats just it, everyone's different. Perhaps aspects of it does annoy me, and thats the real issue. Perhaps I should just care less, shrug my shoulders and move on

no problem. it's much more active than boxing, or k-1. and, it's fun to watch different styles against each other, though most fighters are really rounding out their skills.

I absolutely love watching MMA. I don't have a fave or anything, but every fight is exciting. The Ultimate Fighter reality show is pretty amusing.

there are a whole bunch of highlight videos and full fights on youtube. here's a sampling...

this on is of mirko 'cro cop' filipovic. he was a kickboxer before mma.

YouTube - One Mean Fighting Machine - Mirko CroCop

randy couture and jeremy horn are different kinds of fighters. randy couture has a wrestling background and i believe horn's background is bjj (easy to see how he got the nickname 'gumby').

YouTube - Jeremy Horn Vs. Randy Couture

and fedor, arguably the best fighter in the world. a three time sambo world champion.

YouTube - fedor emelianenko

as panickedthumb said, the fights are lots of fun. i would add that the ultimate fighter show can be kind of sad at times.

I love watching MMA. I watch both UFC and Pride matches. I don't see how anyone could criticize this sport. This is real fighting which is what separates it from other sports and martial arts.
