I really should start...I just got out of over a month of bed rest due to illness and I'm so totally not in shape now.

I bought a small 20KG set a few days ago, to start out. I'll probably keep at it.

Powerlifter for several years now. I lift quite a bit (bench press re-approaching 400 lbs. raw)for being such an old bastard (46).

I do some home gym work. Mainly upper body stuff at the moment but I'd like to get a squat rack to help train for my riding (BMX racing) a bit.

Right now I do BB bench press, BB bicep curl (preacher bar), push-up, BB military press and some swiss ball exercises. It's just for my self administered rehab program for an elbow injury 18 months ago. The preacher bar is because I can't do normal bicep curls, BB or DB, because of an older injury...unless I want lots of pain

One advantage of being a rehabilitation specialist, I write my own rehab programs and use my own weights. The disadvantage, I don't stick to them enough lol.

yes i used to be into bodybuilding in a big way,now it is only at home ,i have a fully equiped gym here, and as you say for an old fart of 47 i can still do reps.(bench press) of 10 x 22o kilo x 8 sets

still get a kick out of working out,
at times like this ,i should have gone fishing 24 hours in a day,24 stubbies in a carton, coincidence.?

I saw a sign that said:-caution small children playing,so i slowed down.then i remembered i am not scared of small children

I've done bent over row and upright row but they don't work my problem areas as much. Not too worried about my shoulders for the time being. Bicep curls basically cover the anterior muscles while various presses do the posterior.

The injury was an elbow dislocation and fracture of the coronoid process, so the repair I need is to the capsule and the supporting muscles.

is posterior chain developement not as useful in cycling as it is in running?

It's important, particularly lower traps and some of the erector spinae. At the moment though I'm not doing any training, just racing for fun these days. The weights are to get my elbow back to normal for everyday life. It's mostly good, occasional crepitus and just a lack of strength I never made up for...until now

i guess your elbow would probably be too weak a link to do any kind of effective overall lifting. i have bone spur in my shoulder and had to stop doing any kind of presses until i'd worked out the imbalance. best of luck with that.
