The CBA wants to bring things down so players earn an average of $1.8 million a year due to 20 of 35 teams facing severe financial difficulties and some could face going bankrupt. A lot of the teams are having a hard time with paying employees of the arenas as well as arena maintainance. I think they need to revamp the salaries. I've been watching hockey since the 80's and back then hockey was cleaner and players were happy. Now it's who's going to get paid the most for beating up the other team. Gretzky with the Oilers 1984, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1990.. that's hockey! I think it was because of that huge winning streak they revamped things and ruined hockey.

The NHLPA needs to accept the salary cap. Every other sport has one and its not like its a bad idea...

exactly, the players need to realize that they are getting paid to do something they love! That is like everyones dream. And now they're bitching that they might get a few million less a year then they used to

they're meeting again today I think... Did u know the NHLPA refuses to take a player poll on whether or not they would play with a salary cap in effect? You know why? Cause they're afraid that too many players would say yes.. In other words, the NHLs winning.

ok, i haven't been watching hockey since the 80's, sorry i'm not that old jon, but i have been playing since before i could walk. as far as i'm concerned it's all bull i mean if you're doings something you really love you shouldn't need to be paid for it in the first place. i mean these people are doing something they love and getting paid a lot more than the average person, they could at least share the wealth. i get by just fine on about 30000 a year. things are tight but i am doing something i love. doing something you love doesn't mean the best pay but i mean this is rediculous. sure i would love to have the shit they have but i wouldn't waste all that cash when you're screwing over the whole industry.

The lockouts unofficially over. The salary cap has been set at 45 mill and the NHLPA gave away like I knew they would.
