Oh yes, thanks very much. Very compelling. Once I convert, if I can't get my wife to convert, (even after watching all those great youtube videos) or at least cover her hair and dress properly like Muslim women should, do I beat her myself, or is there someone at the local mosque who I should talk to about doing it for me?

Read about Islam and you will find that you must not beat your wife because it is christian or even jewish.
Also even if she was Muslim
and you want her to dress like women muslims,do not beat her.
Only you convince her but if she refused you ask God to let her knows the truth.

Well thanks very much. I am pleased that your view of Islam does not ask men to beat women.

I would like to hear your own personal story about your faith in Islam, what your core beliefs are under that religion, how it makes your life more rewarding, and how you believe it makes you a better part of the community.

For me, that would be much better than links to videos, this way we can discuss things.

This is an interesting point/question. I'm not religious myself (at least not in an organized religion sense) but my understanding is that the concept of faith is to believe what is right/correct, not what 'makes your life rewarding'.

In other words, a choice of faith would seem to be 'what is right' not 'what is right for me'.

Same here as far as not being religious.

Interesting point about the rewarding part. Maybe I didn't ask the question well. I most definately agree with you that one concept of "faith" (if by faith you mean adherence or whatever to a religion) is to believe what is right and correct. It would be insanity to attatch yourself to a belief system if you don't believe (or even understand or know for that matter) what your religion teaches.

I can't speak for every believer, but I think having a world view that is internally consistent, and believable for you, would be rewarding in itself. I know it is for me. In that sense, "what is right for me" would have to be married to "what is right."

Muslims believe in the same god Jews and Christians do.

They also believe in Jesus as a prophet, and even that he will kick some evil ass at his second coming. Jesus is more often mentioned in the Quran than Mohammed.

A lot of Christians and Jews would have a problem with that assertion. I'm fairly sure Christian theology, for example, says something about faith in Jesus being necessary for salvation or some such. Muslims don't believe that.

There is the historical commonality tho.

Well, devout Muslims need to have faith in Jesus as he's the one saving the world on his second coming defeating the Antichrist - according to the Quran.

Later Jesus will eventually assume Leadership of the World.
