| The subject pretty much says it all. I just want to see if linux users are atheists . |

Check it out: www.linuxedge.blogspot.com Maybe there's a link between using Linux and being rational - and rational people are more likely to be atheists (although I'm not implying that religion is irrational*) *yes i am. | |

| If I had to choose one religion, it would be buddhism. But atheism is good for me for now ![]() |

| Why are geeks often atheist? | Shuzak.com "‘Geek’ brings to mind a long list of traits- Glasses, obsession with science, a high IQ. Recently, however, a new trait has come to light to add to the long, esteemed list: Atheism. Despite being widely known, there has been very little in the way of explanation proposed for this phenomena. It is the purpose of this article to address this deficiency. ..." |

| I will vote too if "agnostic" is added to the list. Believing there is no supreme being is not the same as not being sure there isn't one. I have used Linux for almost 10 yrs but I have been an agnostic much longer than that, so Linux didn't do it to me. I just noticed there is an option that says "I use Linux and I am not an atheist". Strictly speaking, that applies to me. |

| Dogs don't make mistakes. | The correlation lies not among Linux users and atheism, but rather, with Internet users in general - most especially the type to frequent forums. This demographic consists primarily of young to middle-age males who tend to be liberal in nature, and as such, tend to be atheist or agnostic. |

| Another poll on this forum showed 100% of those that voted have tried Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Xubuntu. http://socialdiscussion.com/computer...ed-so-far.html Operating systems are like religions to many people. As everyone here seems to be a Linux user it would be interesting to see if there is a correlation between how long people have used Linux and Atheism. It would also be interesting to see the relationship between preferred Operation System Window/Mac/*nix etc and Atheism but obviously not on a poll held here. Analysis of census statistics, other reliable statistics and surveys have shown correlations between the groups listed below. Religious beliefs (or lack thereof) Age Highest Education level achieved School results (SAT etc) that are used qualify for admission to higher education IQ Likelihood of being fatally injured in a motor vehicle accident Life expectancy Criminal records Sex offenders Drug dependency (not for health reasons) Divorce rates Some results are obvious and others contrary to popular belief. |

Some of the places I found it were The Australian Bureau of Statistics Australian Bureau of Statistics The US equivalent Educational institutions. | Eligible for a custom title | Nice article. I am not an atheist. I am not a follower of any mainstream religion. I am not even agnostic. I'm a polytheist. A pagan. Wiccan really. Seems I'm one of the smaller minorities here. /me ponders |
