The correlation lies not among Linux users and atheism, but rather, with Internet users in general - most especially the type to frequent forums. This demographic consists primarily of young to middle-age males who tend to be liberal in nature, and as such, tend to be atheist or agnostic.
i never realised there was a tendancy for atheists to have liberal political views, i must be an exception because im largely conservative .

This is likely due to conservatism being linked to the religious right in America. The "conservatives" that aren't call themselves libertarians now.

"I use Linux, and I am NOT an atheist."
What OS I use does not and should not impact any difference on my religion.

This is kind of over-simplified, in my oppinion. I am an agnostic when it comes to religion. I don't THINK "god" exists, but I can't prove "god" doesn't exist. Therefore, I can't claim "god" doesn't exist. Follow me?

I do use Linux and do consider myself aware enough to have respect for non-organised religion and spirituality.

I think this is why some Republicans are putting on libertarian suits, they don't want to be associated with the Evangelical side of their party but neither do they want to alienate that side. That is why I thought Mr Paul was a Libertarian (with capital "L") until someone informed me that he is a Republican.

What I love is that no one picked "I do not use Linux" alot of smart people here! (although there are 26 irrational people)

Is it just me or is this smiley next to a maurijuana plant?
Check it out: www.linuxedge.blogspot.com
Maybe there's a link between using Linux and being rational - and rational people are more likely to be atheists (although I'm not implying that religion is irrational*)

*yes i am.

It is a marijuana plant. I noticed it just a couple of hours ago.

Twenty-six irrational people? You counted them?

Are pagans and people that practice Wicca the same thing? I ask because I am ignorant to these topics.

nope I meant pre-Cameron , David Cameron recently took over the conservative party and he's pretty much moved the party away to the centre rather than its previous centre-right economic and political values.

I use Linux and I am NOT an atheist. At the moment, I would define myself as agnostic, but I find myself attracted to Pagan religions.

Seems I'm one of the smaller minorities here.

I find paganism to be extremely fascinating, and Wicca especially, I have spent the better part of the last several months studying [about] Wicca, and I am currently giving "Drawing Down the Moon" a good look over. If there are any books you find particularly interesting on Wicca, I would love to know about them.

I will attempt to answer this question and hopefully I won't butcher it. The easiest answer to your question is no. Not all Pagans are Wiccans. There are many forms of Paganism (like there are denominations of Christianity), Wiccans, Druids, and Goddess-worshippers come to mind.

Answering whether or not all Wiccans are Pagans is a little tougher, and I may not be able to convey this correctly. From what I have read, I believe that all Wiccans can agree in the common belief of both a Goddess (The Lady) and a God (The Lord) thus making them Pagans. But many Wiccans would also say The Lady and The Lord are two facets of the same being - Spirit. Regardless, most Wiccans will also choose a Pantheon of goddesses and gods to work with (thought many pantheons can be worked with, usually only one is worked with at any single time) and some Wiccans will choose a goddess or god that they can relate to best and invoke that deity in ritual.

This would basically concrete the saying that "All Wiccans are Pagans."

That's all I've got for now, hopefully I didn't muddy things up too badly :P

Linux users take their fate into their own hands.
Windows users are obviously okay with putting their fate in someone elses hands and praying... lots

Actually that would go against all the Christians and other people that believe in God we have in this forum. Its a biased pol in a sense because a good bit of us came from the Ubuntu Forums. As for the rest I don't know where they came from.

So from this thread, one might infer that many people put their lives in the hands of:

corporations
a creator
the government

Kind of scary, and only two of those can be proven to exist
