I just have a small point to make...

Why is it automatically accepted that if schools must compete against each other that they will all improve?

As far as I can tell, this kind of competition leads to the same kind of target culture that has destroyed the UK's NHS over the past decade. Personally, I'm against putting schools in pseudo-business environment. Isn't the whole point of a public service to provide what businesses are unable to?
