| You are a what? A witch? Can you perform magic? Seriously though, I would like to ask exactly what those religions are about. Is it the literal belief in things like magic, or is it just the use of those symbols to understand a greater meaning (like in Hinduism and Buddhism)? |

| under construction | Cectic - Wrong Wager , not why i think people believe(or maybe "believe") in that stuff though. I think many of them are just going through a phase or want to feel special somehow, perhaps want to belong to some group. That being the reason does not necessarily mean they are lying when they say they believe, of course.I would not be suprised if that was valid for religion in general. |

| I am also a wiccan. And yes some of us do feel special, like they were meant to do something. I'm one of them. I am actually kind of fearful of my mission, it really scares me, but I just have a feeling that it is the right thing to do. Nevermind my signiture, I did that because its fun, but somethimes it seems like I'm two people. |

Well, it seems that foreboding has fallen over the calm world that I call home. ZS forums and I are now best buds. (I think that zombies have less cred than nukes as a doomsday, but slightly more than aliens...)

| Commentator | I'd call myself an agnostic wiccan/pagan I'm not entirely sure that theres really a goddes/god of some sort, but am much more inclined to believe in the wiccan tenents than those of any other religion I"ve studied. |

| Have you ever tried the leprechaun test? It's easy. Choose some supernatural deity, some entity that is the object of worship then see if you can distinguish it from a leprechaun. Try an angel for example... It comes and intervenes in the affairs of people, like a leprechaun. It can do tricks/miracles/magic like a leprechaun. There's no direct evidence but anecdotal accounts - like a leprechaun. There are some written texts which are used as sources of verification, much like leprechauns. The question becomes, why support one set of ideas when the others are irrationally thrown out? It's fun inventing stories of supernatural powers and magic and all that stuff and it might be fun to pretend to believe in it, but I doubt that any of them would rely on magic to fly an aeroplane, power a car, operate a lift, boil a kettle, etc. In the fanciful world of make-belief it's all good fun but in the real world where evidence matters, splitting magical hairs to create a classification of beliefs in the supernatural is a bit like stamp collecting. |
