Default Re: Fact:

just making sure that people question their beliefs as do you and others

i know there is more than science out there
and science is yet to explain all

will we ever know all

This thread is not on evolution OK
thats the other one

but you/others are calling me an idiot for talking to GOd

for everything there is a cause a purpose

what is the purpose of life when it can die
why not live for ever as rocks do

why are you here and what are you

are you a simple chemical reaction that tells you to type on an internet forum

when it comes to science they are looking for evidence that will help predict future events

do you have control over your body
or are you just process that exists by simple chemical reaction

i can do this kjfldksjflkdsjflkdsjg

was that expected
you may say it was destiny but i DECIDED to do this because i thought it was funny to type random characters

is this universe dumb random luck
or does it serve a purpose

why did the universe begin or have a big bang

wouldn't it have been easier for it to remain as a singularity forever

Why are we here

are you meaningless, unimportant, irrelevant, a chemical reaction

i am trying to show that science cant explain all and atleast i have an "idea" what started the universe and noone has any other explanations

These are questions I have either answered, answer on a daily basis or are openminded enough to allow answers to reveal themselves to me. You must live your questions. BTW I did not say you are an idiot. I don't think anyone is an idiot, well except a few conservatives here and there but that is another subject. Anyway, good luck to you!!

BTW--just because I'm curious, what is your age?

None of the forces can be seen, only the movement betrays them. There is nothing bad for models to have things in them that we can not see. The important thing is that we can do measurements to verify claims the models make. We can not see velocity either, just that things change place.

I do not see any particular reason the universe should have purpose. At all. That does not mean that i have no goals myself. I like stuff about life somehow, that is subjective, but it is reason to live anyway.
I have posted stuff about our physical representation and problems with it here, but basically, yes. (and a simple reaction? ...)

If you think we have blind faith you should read our forum better. We are on this forum to challenge and create ideas, dont mistake the unconvincingness of your comments for blind faith on our part. Perhaps you should realize that should be your reason as well.

In this case the Atheist would have the upper hand, he enjoyed his life, and was not stopped by religous objections to mundane natural things he may want to take part in.

what do religiuos objection stop me from enjoying life

should i kill, steal, lie cheat, do drugs

who does better in life a man who honours others or a man who takes from others

who will have a better relationship with their surroundings

WHAT IS YOUR POINT

if you spend half of your sunday going to church then thats 1/14th of your life that you couldve spent learnining a new skill or increasing your knowledge, that sounds like quite a waste to me.

also rocks dont live forever, they never live, so they never die, so thats a non-point,

you also seem to make the assumption that even if scientific theorys arent right, that somehow automatically makes god to have done it, which would be even less likely than the bigbang/gravity/naturalselection theorys as it hasnt and never has had any evidence whereas they have.

Being atheistic/agnostic does mean one is immoral. We can do honours for other too. In fact this forum stems from the Ubuntu forums where people help eachother in their problems with Ubuntu. http://socialdiscussion.com/introduc...orums-org.html (I am not saying everyone is atheistic, but many are.)

You just said this thread was not about evolution. Also, i already answered it, and yet you state the same question again.

Again I suggest you read the stuff we said over, and state your point of view fully and clearly. Same for your questions. It would take less time then continuing your roundabout. Also, I would hate to have anyone on my ignore list.
@JoshJ: Its incohoetry.

As far as the OP... As humans develop their psychic abilities, most do hear voices and communicate with various kinds of beings. If you don't believe psychic abilities are real, then you're quite ignorant. Get away from popular television and narrow-minded scientists and start exploring the work of real scientists - people who explore the greater universe with honesty and courage. Substantial research has been done and it overwhelmingly demonstrates the obvious conclusion that psychic phenomena are real. All people possess and some people deliberately develop such abilities.

As for insanity - it does involve going 'out of your mind' in one sense, into a larger frame of mind. So I can see how you might think such people are insane, hearing things which you cannot hear, and receiving information which you are not attuned to receive. Build the receiver.

As for the Bible, it does contain wisdom, but much of that has distorted by the church over the years as the Bible was hacked up and altered. It also contains a lot of horseshit and fear-used-as-control. There are far more contemporary books which contain the same fundamental wisdom in fresh forms. Don't limit yourself to one book if you wish to know the limitlessness of God. God didn't stop talking to humans 2000 years ago. God speaks to everyone all the time - that's what Life is.

I too would like to see some of this evidence. I mean, I'm just a "narrow-minded scientist", but it's been my experience that the people who believe in ESP and other phenomena are more gullible and likely to believe the "exciting" explanation of paranormal activity rather than the "scientific" explanation that requires a higher level of comprehension and study.

For example, I once had someone show me a series of photos of "angels". She believed that these foggy dots on the photos were tangible evidence of angels among us, but I didn't have the heart to tell her of the effect caused by dust on a camera lens. Now, I suppose I could be wrong, but why do the angels go away when I clean my lens?

Ok, I'm confused now....if EVERYTHING must be caused; then what caused god to exist, and when??? Whatever created god must have some serious mojo going on.

what created time? Has it always existed? What about infinity? Things like the universe are constantly getting bigger, and then there are things that have are infintismely small like electrons, whats inside an electron? The concept of something that has had no beginning or no physical end is not new, and it does exist. THEREFORE it is not hard to deduce that something like God could have existed forever.

But wouldn't that completely negate the "must have a cause" argument for the universe. Why couldn't it have existed forever as well? Not trying to be argumentative, I just can't seem to get my brain wrapped around this, it seems kind of a double standard.

How can god exists forever if time does not exist. Initial existence has nothing to do with time, as time is a property of our universe. I really do not know the cause of existence. But the discussion of that, and a paper with many possibilities http://socialdiscussion.com/religion...lanations.html.
