All Catholics are Christians. Not all Christians are Catholics.

I believe that at the time that the first Europeans arrived on the North and South American continents, the Catholic Church was the only established Christian church.

"just another politician" implies that he was on both sides of the issue. Which is what those quotes show.
By comparison, Jefferson was completely anti-religion.

not all of any denomination are Christians, and certainly not Catholics. Yes there are catholics that are christian, no doubt. I have known some, but most are catholics to be catholics not christians, as their lives clearly prove, and they do not have the slightest clue what the christian faith is. They only know what the catholic religion is. This could be said for several denominations so I am not picking on catholics.

"no true christian" is the most depressingly common version of the "no true scotsman" fallacy.

Give me a break.

hahah...hogwash! well, they could as they are, out of context. I'd be embarrassed to try and pull that on intelligent beings. You could do the same with anyone. Lets see the complete context of all those quotes.

I don't recall calling myself a christian
I don't like the term, and avoid the label

Well, let's see

But we'll forget about that, then. Ok, I'm game. How would you define it? (and by 'define' I mean define, not rant )

Thank you for understanding the point I was trying to make: Anyone can quote anything out of context; it doesn't mean anything. But you were first out of the blocks on that one, no?

Wouldn't Catholicism be a branch of Christianity much like Protestants, Methodists, etc... Please discuss without letting your emotions getting the best of you.
