Default Unfinished business......

Is there any easy way to decline someones wish to talk to deal with their unfinished business?
I was in a relationship, that did not end on good terms what so ever. It's been over two years and it was brought to my attention that this person wants to talk to me about what we had and how it went wrong.....in other words, he has since learned that i am in a relationship and very happy. My current relationship is 7mths old and has recently became very serious, marriage wise.
Prior to my current honey, I spent a year getting over the last and learned to love myself despite all that he tried to do and convince me of, I really don't want to talk, let alone see him again. Is it selfish of me not to want to talk to him? As much as i wish I could say that i'd rather let him keep the guilt, hashing out the rights and wrongs just isn't on my list of priorities anymore, perhaps 5 months ago I might have cared about it, but now im happy with where i am in my life and the man i'm sharing it with.
That's MS.BITCH to you....

Seems to me you know what it is you want to do. You have an obligation to you first, period. He will be ok, let him take care of himself.

You can simply tell him you have moved on and are too content to have any disruptions from the past going on. Say it to him over the phone so your current partner can witness your words, or do it in writing.

OTOH- If there are children involved, he has a right and an obligation to them barring any past history of abuse.

thanks for the advice RJ, makes alot of sense. I'm hoping that the possibility of the unfinished business that he has with me remains hear-say, unfortunately it is from a very good friend that we have mutually, but I will do it over the phone with the new man next to me, should it actually surface again.
Thank you again. I guess what kind of got me was that it has been over a year and he was the one that cut off communication first, so just kind of got confusing as to why now?

No one actually "needs" to talk to a specific other person to get past issues. Counselors are great for that sort of thing.

If you don't feel comfortable, or just plain don't want to talk to him, you should not feel obligated. You can say, both kindly and politely, "I'm really not interested in talking with you. Thank you for understanding," and leave it at that.

Unless, as rj pointed out, kids are involved. Then it gets more complicated.

Well, it finally happened. Only it went much better than expected and it wasn't planned, I think that is what made it easier to talk openly.
He is well and still residing in Oregon, not currently dating, but seems happy 'trolling' for girls, his words not mine! In any case, he did have knowledge of my boyfriend, however thought it was someone totally different. When he learned that it was not this person he dislikes, he seemed at ease and wished me all the happiness i could stand.
As for the other factors in our breakup, or really just the one, he understands that feelings are not something you should be able to turn on and off like a switch, and has forgiven me for not being able to commit myself to him totally at the time. He also accepted some of the problem as he knew where my heart remained when we were together but figured i'd learn to love him in time.
It was a good talk and my current honey was very supportive with everything.
