| Interested participant | Hi all I do believe that we all do have a soul mate, a person "meant for us". Not just from a religious stand point, but from real life experience. Do you believe there exists such a thing as soul mates? |

| Based on the number of people who believe they have found their "soul mate", I don't believe that there is any one person meant for us all - the statistical likelihood of finding such a person is close to zero. The way I see it is everyone is compatible with everyone else to a certain degree, or "goodness of fit" if you will. Someone who you do not get along with at all might not "fit your curve" at all, whereas your "soul mate" would be a near perfect match, but there are probably many people that fit this criteria. Now, if only there were an accurate chi-squared test for relationships... |

It is a mystical concept aimed at replacing the idea you have to put effort into having a good relationship. There might be people who have a personality better suited for you than others, but that isn't what is meant when people talk about soul mates.

| I'd like to add that the concept of soul mate does not fit my views on life. We evolve, we change, life is not a long and quiet river all the same from beginning to end. Soul may change as life goes by. Any thoughts on that ? |

| Drank to much Mountain Dew | I certainly hope that there is no such thing as soulmate. With the drastic increase in world population through the last 100 years, it has become almost impossible to find him/her. ![]() |

I don't hold with that opinion, but the argument is silly.

| Sorry you didn't understand my meaning, bns. Perhaps I should have been more precise with my words. My answer was made in the context of which the question was asked, which is the present tense. Or did I misunderstand the question? Either way, I misjudged you. I thought you were above the kind of language you have displayed here, I guess not or, maybe your having a bad day. That been said I do believe that we all have been here before. Not because some religion say so, but from common sense. Religions all say the same thing, they just use different words and different means to make you believe in their way of interpreting the writings. Religion has always been used to hold down the masses. Just my two cent any how. Now - To me soul mates are NOT two persons completely alike. It's a person, or soul, that you've know for several life times. Not as your direct mirror. Not as a person who knows what you are thinking all the time. Well - Three cents it came down to ![]() | |

| Such a thing as a "soulmate" does exist, BUT: There isn't just one person who is your soulmate. I'd imagine that everybody has a type of personality they get along with perfectly. There are many people in the world who have that exact personality that matches yours, and when you find one of those people, you view them as your "soulmate." Well, that's in my experience, anyway. I could well be wrong! |

| I use to believe there was a soul-mate for everyone, then realized that whether I find true happiness, comfort and peace with the person in my life is determined by me. |
