I usually just say "Hi, what's up?" so far I'm lucky i haven't been carded!

Localzuk, you ought to start with the women you intend to pick up in just the same way that you are usually successful at starting conversations with any other stranger - it's genuine. Of course you won't necessarily actually have something relevant to say to every pretty girl you fancy from across a bar-room other than "Hey, you wanna f#%k?" (which does work for me at times) but if you happen to notice someone that is particularly attractive you might just go ahead and approach them with something like 'Hey, ya know you look really nice. I really like...' -and then point out whatever it is that attracted you (for me it's usually something like: "that red and blond streak in your hair" or "those 9 earrings in your ear" or "the way you move your lips and grit your teeth when you dance") -but that's just me. The point is that you just gotta handle the situation just like any other - honest, straightforward, and consistent with your motives.
One of the things I've noticed in life is the hottest girls are all too happy to talk with anyone who can actually retain the ability to talk whilst in their presence simply because most people (like you) are too insecure or intimidated by a pretty girl to even approach them.

This is funny because that can actually work, reason giving is because the female, (if she is worth her lick) will automatically pick up that you really want to know her and dont have a clue what to say so... you say something because its something instead of nothing, we can read between the lines and that can attract us. We are strange like that. I was going to say you could try this... hey I saw you and really wanted just to come over and say hi...it could work, because its a true affect of wanting to meet somenone. I havent been in the game for over 12 years but I still know things, been there done that.
