| Article http://www.yahoo.com/s/902001 By the time this gets off the ground we will all be driving re-stored Fiats from the junk yard...We need relief now.. I have to agree with Obama here for the moment..it only makes sense.. Now..what will be his resolve with the fuel crisis? granted he makes the office..or any other crisis as far as I am concerned. It appears whoever makes presidency will have their hands tied. Are we screwed for 5 years maybe ++ Sherri |

Why is he griping about high gas prices? Isn't energy conservation is his goal? High gas prices are working to that end brilliantly. They're causing people to move to public transportation and higher MPG vehicles.

| Stirrer Of Shit | Also, don't forget, OPEC is noticing this decrease in demand - that means they know people are learning to use less gasoline. This is why OPEC nations have begun increasing production. Limiting production has served them by driving prices up, but its not a strategy they can employ forever. Higher prices result in decreased demand. |

HI Ras.. Sorry I was so vague. I was aiming at where Obama said it would take 5 years for us to see the change in fuel prices upon production here in the United States..no I have not heard any resolutions on his behalf. I have been cutting back immensely on purchasing fuel in hopes that everyone else is doing the same thing..they are..maybe we will see some relief.. Sherri

Obama is talking to the idiots. Any significant shift to alternative fuels will take longer than 5 years. Putting his dumbass windfall profit tax on America oil companies will only make things worse. Getting everyone behind the wheel of a 40mpg go-cart will take more than 5 years - an again, that's conservation. If he wants conservation, he should be promising to do everything possible to raise gasoline prices, not lower them. High prices on gas work great at motivating people to use less. But he doesn't want conservation, he wants votes. He doesn't want to get behind the majority of Americans on this issue, he wants to play to his moonbat base.

| It wont effect the market very much. A little oil here or there isn't going to do anything. What we need are large discoveries, like the one in mexico (forget what it's called). The problem is the planet has been searched extensively via aircraft, boats, and satellites* so there's very little chance that there's another large oil field around that has gone undiscovered. Any new discoveries are going to be small and unimportant in the grand scheme of things. Of course I do support this offshore drilling thing, I'm just pointing out that it's not going to be as big of a help as people think it will. Same thing with Alaska's Anware (however it's spelled). *FYI for those of you that are curious oil fields are discovered because they change the local gravitational fields. It's something that's very easy to detect with today's technology. |
