I'll bite. What should it read? BTW, you didn't read/comprehend one of the voting options.

Hi Ras..
Which one are you in question about as far as my answers? and this is your poll. Number 5 is your option to jot down..

I will add..How about..

Its your right to vote..I will educate myself politically and vote on a candidate that I feel will make a difference for the United States of America.

American Idol bores me to tears..I never watch it, dont know how anyone sits through it, but people have different taste.

Look at what the poll option says, then look at what you said about it.

No its not your given right. There is no right in this country to vote in a presidential election. No constitutional right anyway.

The states choose presidents, not individuals.

Hi Ras..
#2... I still stand by what I said about it

#2. I will not vote for the hypocrite, I'll vote for the other party's candidate.

2. The un-decided.
Not willing to do the hunt on what it is they want in a candidate..so they settle for less, and vote un-decided anyway.

If they did their homework on the candidate they feel is best..then that is who they should vote for.. beings they are of good sound and judgment..Who is to say that hypocricy does not invade the other party as well? then they go ahead and vote out of ignorance and the over all dislike of the one in question?

This is why I implicated un-decided. They figure..well I dont like that guy..I dont like the other one either..but..if I have to make a choice..then...> they vote basically by random choice..not really a decision based on what it is they want in a candidate..

Its a priveledge to vote,,but if your eligible than make it your right..as you standing in honor the United States of America and the Flag that graces poles state to state..I dont take that lightly..find the candidate who honors that..cast your vote..step up make it happen..every vote counts..

I am not talking about the electorial vote, I am talking about the popular vote..yes individuals make the difference..or the state cannot decide.

Presidents aren't elected by a popular vote. They are chosen by electors from the states.

I'm afraid I'll have to ask you to clarify this - the electors in the states are different people to those who vote in the election?

Yes, they are essentially representatives sent by the state. Their votes count. The popular vote doesn't count - or doesn't need to. At one point, IIRC, state legislatures would choose the electors, and in so-doing the president.

The point is, its up to the state to decide. The constitution dictates how many electors each state is alloted, the state decides how the electors are chosen and/or who they'll vote for.

When you hear someone in the United States talking about a "right to vote" in the context of presidential elections, you can know they are either ignorant baffoons (present company excluded Sherri) or they're lying to you.

I don't know if you recall our 2000 election problems, but while the circus was going on with the Supreme court deciding what to do about hanging chads, the electors had already long since been chosen and their vote was locked in. By law, nothing the SCOTUS could have done would have changed anything. It was just a lot of going through the motions.

ok - I always thought it was a wacky system

So, on an election day ballot paper, the options people vote for are what? Their local congressperson and/or senator?

No, usually ballots have everything from president on down. Most states base their electors on the popular vote for that state. This is why you hear talk about things like "battleground" states, or red and blue states, in our elections.

Hypocrisy is not the worst possible quality, at least I can imagine something even worse than that.
