Good news or bad news?

Deportations of illegal aliens are increasing. Many of these have criminal records. (Aside from the criminal act of entering the country illegally.)

Last year 280,500 aliens were deported. That number is up from 150,000 in 2003.

A big reason for the increase is the end of the "catch and release" policy where illegals were released on a promise they'd appear in court for deportation hearings. Duh. Of course, under that system, all we got was a lot of fugitives who disappeared.

The ICE is also stepping up its success in tracking down these fugitives and deporting them.

So, is all this good news or bad news? I guess its bad news for those who want to sneak into the country, but how about the rest of us?

Seeking Asylum in another country is usually caused by desperation. Fugitives is a harsh word as it implies that 'all' these people are criminal in their intent.

It's a complex problem with no easy answers.

They aren't criminal for their intent, they are criminal in their actions.

That's open to interpretation and not the way some would see it.

It's not open to interpretation at all. The laws on how to legally enter the country are very clear.

Yes as I said, that's not the way some would see it. If you live in a closed minded, everything by the letter of the law type world then you would be correct.

That's not how some would see it? See what? That there are laws governing entrance and immigration to the United States? (Just as there are in Mexico, our other neighbor, Candada, and pretty much every other country on the planet.)

What is your boggle? How about making some declarative statements? You seem to have something to say, how about not leaving me drag it out of you.
