YouTube - Ron Paul: I don't believe in evolution

"evolution is a theory ... and I don't believe it."

What do you mean by "has issues?" What did he say that is unreasonable? Before you start assembling a straw man, from the context of what he said, its obvious he's not talking about micro evolution which is observable and reproduceable in science.

"I don't think anybody has proof of either side,"

Apparently, Paul does not believe in the fossil record.

What do you mean? What does the fossil record prove exactly?

It doesn't 'prove' anything.

But evolution still makes sense with it.

'Alternatives' like Creationism don't hold up as well at all. It doesn't have much impact on ID, admittedly.

My point was, more generally, was that there is indeed plenty of evidence around.

And if you wanted more extremely well-documented evidence of evolution, then I suppose biogeography, homologous structures, and embryonic parallelism might do the trick.

No one is talking about creationism - no need to bring it up. "Evolution must be true because there's no evidence for an alternative" is a logical fallacy. The theory of evolution can stand on its own.

You say there is plenty of evidence, but none of that evidence is slam dunk. Sure, if you begin with the presupposition that macro evolution is true as thoerized, then the evidence can look good, even tho it really doesn't demand you believe anything. But then, I'm just repeating what you already said.
