Default Airport Screeners Miss Fake Bombs 75% Of The Time

Quote:
Bogus bombs run through airport security checkpoints are not identified by screeners the vast majority of the time, according to a government report.

The U.S. Transportation Security Administration ran almost 300 covert exercises at three major airports last year to see how effectively the suspcious items made it into secure areas.
Quote:
The tests were conducted last year at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport and San Francisco International Airport. LAX had the worst record, the report said, missing the bogus bombs 75% of the time. O'Hare missed them about 60% of the time. San Francisco performed best, letting just 20% of the devices pass through undetected.

Officials say San Francisco screeners, who are employed by a private security company rather than the TSA, are likely more suspicious because they are constantly being tested with fake bombs.

A government bureaucracy performs more poorly than their private counterpart. No suprise there.

I've been saying for a long time that the screening they put you through at the airport is more about making you feel safe, rather than actually making you safe. Apparently, the TSA agrees.
For just an instant, have a glimpse, a vision, of life through my eyes. It is a staggeringly joyous perspective, a view of how each person's choices can make their own life better. It is a vision of the possible, of how things can and should be.

Anyone asking for the government to federalize something else - like health care - should pay attention to this.

People easily see what they want to see. Perhaps i should check some stuff myself .

About federalising stuff, perhaps(probably) the federal agencies are not up to the task now, but that does not mean it is a bad idea in general.(As i have said before.) (Question is whether it should be up to the states or the the federal govt also.)
