Id hate to stereotype but its my nature...the names sound to be of "african american" origin...good guess huh? and i think its funny that "The sheriff's office would not say what the dessert was."

Also id like to mention that id assume, judging by the kids actions that either there is no father or is deadbeat who is never around to raise his kids.

The kid was 13yr! And you think just put him away for his whole life, and not let the mom have the children is really enough? Dont you think it should be more clear what happened?
Sorry to say, but it seems like you just want to plug your ears and yell "lalala". I dont know what to think about stuff like this either, but people involved should be asking themselves what they are to make of this.
Perhaps it is just 'coincidence', stuff like this happens too more children, and they learn from it. Perhaps the kid was just unlucky that it ended in a death. In that case, would putting the kid in jail for its whole life be a good idea?

I know exactly what to make of it - shitty parents and no values. Errr, parent probably. I said the kid should be in jail indefinitely - in other words, I'm not sure how long you leave vermin like this in jail.

I don't think the kid should be in jail for a long time. I also don't think the kid is vermin. Perhaps the parents are. It's not the kid's fault that he never had a decent shot at life. Throw the book at the mom, but cut the kid some slack. And get him some help.

In other words, he hit his brother with a broom, punched him, strangled him, and smashed his head into the floor. That's no accident. The perpetrator intended to do seriously bodily injury, and I'm sure he was aware of the level of force necessary to be fatal.

Violent first-degree murderers have no place on the streets. The fact that he is 13-years-old is only slightly ameliorating.

Wouldn't it be 2nd-degree since it wasn't premeditated? Not sure, but that's what I thought.
