If The White House was going to engage in such amateurish video editing to cover up "Mission Accomplished", why is that bar present in other video streams from whitehouse.gov? It also renders green in realplayer on my system. Sounds more like a bug to me.

The black bar is used on all videos to cover the network information at the bottom, as I first suspected. Check other videos on the White House website, they're all the same. Or watch the video debunking this one here.

I, too, am sceptical. This reminds me of the fiasco kicked up by the folks on the "man has never been to the moon" bandwagon when somebody noticed the waving American flag in one of the videos.

Certainly nothing to scream "US Government changes history!" from the rooftops over.
