No, I don't care for his lies and propaganda.

This film isn't going anywhere and will have a meager fraction of the box office results as F9/11.

Moore is amongst other things a moronic idiot. Yes I think that Bush is a miserable failure incapable of pronouncing the word Nuclear properly, but I find Michael Moore to be an even more of a miserable failure, and a waste of air.

So are you saying that health care in the US is up to par with the rest of the world?

Analysis: 'Sicko' numbers mostly accurate; more context needed - CNN.com

Quote:
Moore covers a lot of ground. Our team investigated some of the claims put forth in his film. We found that his numbers were mostly right, but his arguments could use a little more context. As we dug deep to uncover the numbers, we found surprisingly few inaccuracies in the film. In fact, most pundits or health-care experts we spoke to spent more time on errors of omission rather than disputing the actual claims in the film.

Moore is a complete and utter tool. I've heard a few more-favourable-than-usual reports of Sicko, so I've got it downloading now - I sure as hell won't pay any money to him by going to watch it, but if I'm going to criticise it, I should at least watch it first. There have been several faked scenes reported in the movie (yes, I know of the CNN link saying his figures were right, but I'm not commenting on the figures); again, when I've seen the film, I may be able to comment.

However, in Moore's ultimate drive to find health care (and "justice", ostensibly) for the 9/11 workers, he actually took them to a country with an objectively worse-ranked health care system than that of the US (US at #37, Cuba at #39). It was purely a show taking them to Guantanamo Bay and moaning about inmates receiving good health care treatment - it's Moore's cronies who moan about rights for Gitmo detainees, and then when he finds that they receive notable health care treatment, he slams the US anyway. Talk about damned if you do, damned if you don't.

It's hypocritical. Again, I'll reserve further judgment until I've seen it myself.

One could also say it's shocking that the U.S. healthcare is only rated slightly better than Cuba's, at the same time being 100+ times more expensive.

I didn't see anyone say anything about health care. If health care is horrible, does that automatically make Moore worth listening to?

I'd like to hear something more rational from those who say Moore is a "Moronic Idiot", "Tool" etc as to why they think this way. Name-calling without any kind of reasoning seems to be something most appropriate in a children's playground to me.

I haven't yet seen it either but have seen a clip of the Guantanamo scene in part on TV, and it was clear to me it was a typical Michael Moore method of making a point through humour. I fear that half the reason people who hate the guy so much is because they just don't 'get' the wit. Or perhaps they are somehow offended by satire (making serious points by use of humour).

Another thought - I wonder how the WHO compiles those rankings. Having lived a bit in the USA and a lot in Australia, I know from my perspective the Australian system is far far more accessible to all then the USA system, even if there are some weaknesses. So the rankings in the list don't seem borne out in reality in my view, *if* they are supposedly concerned with accessibility. Perhaps they measure some other approach, like % of GDP spent on health or something.

There's sufficient evidence pertaining to that elsewhere online. Go read.

I wouldn't term it "satire." Did you really think a secure military installation would let a guy bobbing up and down on a boat outside with a megaphone stuck to his face inside? I can assure you that he would have had several rifles aimed at him during that time, and that the officers inside would not have considered even for even a second whether or not to listen to him.

Moore knew this too. It was theatrics, plain and simple. Apparently, you've bought it hook, line and sinker.

Never have and never will watch anything by Moore.

As far as health care in the U.S., I have no complaints.
