| White House rejects subpoenas - Politics - MSNBC.com President Bush, moving toward a constitutional showdown with Congress, asserted executive privilege Thursday and rejected lawmakers' demands for documents that could shed light on the firings of federal prosecutors. Hmmmm, this is a little scary. |

| This is oddly reminiscent of the last Election. As I remember being told Congress was considering (with push from the President) on moving the election day ahead a number of weeks (to avoid possible threat via terrorists). This kind of vaccum it was then theorized could cause a hole that the Commander in Chief could advantage. Say if some terrorist act were to happen within it , Bush could theoretically call Martial Law, abolish the Congress, and become a dictator. But now thats the stuff of conspiracy theorists dreams and unlikelyhood. |
