| I'm just wondering how widespread the practice of ride side collections is around the world. So, click away. One thing I'm particularly interested in is whether it is popular in the USA. |

| I live in California, so recycling is much more prevalent. It's not in the vocabulary for some states. I don't remember seeing recycling bins anywhere in Nebraska (excepting college towns of course). |

| I have a few options. I could throw it in the empty lot across the street, which is what most people here say I should do. Instead, I carry it down the street and around the corner to a community trash receptacle (one small bucket, 1.2 m tall, 60 cm x 60 cm square, for an area housing about 400 families!!). Before moving here from the USA, I had curbside recycling, so this situation has struck me as quite odd. |

(I just didn't want anyone to get a wholly negative view of Moroccan trash cleanup practices. ) | |

| Our local council does do roadside collections for recycling but not for those living in flats. All we have is the general rubbish bins. There are bottle banks and a tip that will recycle a lot of goods nearby but it does mean having to load up the car every so often if we want to recycle. I always wonder whether the petrol being used if offsetting the benefits of actually sorting and transporting our rubbish. |

| We have general trash pickup on Mondays and recyclables on Thursday. Glass and plastics get put together but paper must be bundled separately. The county next to mine will actually fine you if they see you dumping garbage in with recycling. |

| Level 37 Bureaucrat | They have roadside collections where I live, they have a peek inside and if it's full of stuff that can't be recycled they put a little sticked on it and leave it. Seems fair to me ![]() I guess the really conscious thing would be to cycle down to the recycling center and individually put your glass bottles and stuff in the right bins... |

| There are more and more in my neighbourhood. Well, I hope they do recycle it, and it's not a political something. I don't know if Hungary even started to build a real recycling factory, but there are some kind of, I think. |

| Where I live (California USA), we get curbside recycling but participation is optional and we are charged for the service. It is less expensive to take one's recyclable materials to the recycling center, though it can be inconvenient for people who don't drive. We have to pay for recycling and the city formerly concealed the recycling tax in our water bills but because of a lawsuit, the fee was moved to the garbage bills where it belongs. I don't mind paying for it but I think the fee should not be hidden in something else and it should be reasonable. |
