I just remembered back when Electing presidents back in the beginning there was the different sides of the voting and who ever won was president and the runner up became the vice-president. Why don't we go back to that?

I can't remember clearly but I think that when it actually happened, ( a prez and VP of different parties) it caused a lot of turmoil both in the election process and during the term in office.

I think it was Jefferson a small d, democrat had a Federalist VP and it was a mess so they changed the rules so that it would always be two men of the same party.

And really, what's a vp's job other than to be alive and not publicly slam the prez?

Cheney has been labeled the most powerful Vice President ever. So try not to compare all VP's to Cheney. He's a rather large name to live up to for VP's.
