As most Americans were, I was horrified at the destuction Katrina caused in southern parts of the U.S. I'm EXTREMLY mad about how long it took the govenment to assist victims... anyone else agree?

Yeah it sucks that it happened, but I live in Houston, the biggest recepient of evacuees. Since Katrina happened, our city's crime rates have risen drastically. Can't these people do something besides steal and kill? Like maybe look for a job.

Hurricane Katrina has hurt many people, I am glad that they are still going to celebrate Mardi Gras even though they are having hard times. I don't think its because they are like they have to do it but more that it will lighten people up if they do. Hopefuly it will bring revenue to New Orleans

i wish there was more that our nation could do to help rebuild the damage. i can only imagine the devastation of the people who went through the ordeal. i mean a lot of people lost EVERYTHING and rebuilding a new life is incredibly tough.

Lesson 1: Stop building in areas unsuited for permanent inhabitance by humans. DUH. Lesson 2: Treat all people the same. You can't run to the aide of rich white people during California mudslides and fires, or run to the aide of New York and DC during attacks, and not run to the aide of a city full of lower-income black people. Run to the aide of no one or everyone, you can't choose. Lesson 3: Humans are overpopulated. Deal. Embrace these major losses as the checks and balance system we need in order to maintain some form of balance in nature. More people need to die. Less people need to be born. It's that simple. And there is no profile for who should go. It's everyone. We need a large scale cutback in the human population. And if you think I'm being mean? Deal.
