Default Bill 'banning' illegal gov wiretapping

Awesome, the house just passed a bill banning the Bush Administrations illegal wiretapping. Of course, it already *WAS* illegal, this just clarifies it. Bout time... I'm sure my phone was/is being tapped since I spent a year abroad hanging out with diplomats and diplomats' kids... ::mutter::

Newsflash: The House passed a bill stating that bank robbery is still illegal. Next up, they'll discuss whether to reaffirm the illegalization of murder.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they did this, but it just kinda sucks that they had to.

Political posturing. What a surprise!

I'm perfectly happy with posturing that helps the people.

Just keep in mind that the Dems are also the party that signed the DMCA into law.

Given that they made illegal something that was allegedly already illegal, how were the people helped?

Apparently there was some confusion over its legality. This (should, I haven't read it) clarifies the issue and could maybe get some of the wiretapping BS that's currently going on to stop.

This bill is completely ridiculous.
Only in a government do you need to pass a law to ban something that is ALREADY ILLEGAL.

King Bush will always find a way to rationalize whatever he wants to do, because he really doesn't care what anyone else thinks and because he is willing to lie to get what he feels is necessary.

It was already supposed to be illegal, so it doesn't make a huge legal difference. It is good because someone is opposing the BS wiretapping that was already going on. Without someone opposing those who abuse their power, the abuse gets worse and worse. Even if it is "political posturing" I'm glad someone opposed Bush on this issue.
