Default Any suggestions?

I recently got tired of the music I currently have on my MP3 player and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for any new music I could look for. I'm willing to try new things as well so if you have anything in mind, just post it.

Do you have a genre that you lean towards? I listen to a lot of heavier rock and some electronic stuff. My tastes are pretty varied, although I tend to lean towards music with a message I like.

Honestly I don't really know the types of music that I listen to. Except for techno, I couldn't tell you. Most of the time I'm looking for something with a faster type beat and says something. Not too much of a fan of those that say the same thing over and over unless they're done right. Instrumentals are cool with me too. If you could give me some examples or want me to list some bands I listen to then I'd be happy to.

I'm a big fan of Orbital, which you've probably heard of before.

Aphex Twin, DJ Teisto, Spetsnaz, Front 242, there is so much good electronic music, it's hard to pick which ones to list.

Last.fm is a good place to go, if you know a band you like. It will play similar bands for you.

I've never heard of Orbital before. Never heard of those other ones either except for DJ Tiesto. A friend of mine at school told me about DJ Tiesto last week as a suggestion. I'll go look for some of their music online and hopefully be able to buy it from iTunes or somewhere else.

I've been to Last.fm but I didn't know any bands I liked so it wasn't really helpful. That and I didn't really stay long enough on the website to sift through a lot of the music there.

I'm familiar with some of Bob Dylan's and Johnny Cash's works but I am not familiar with "Modern Times" or "America V". Are those albums or songs? I'll be looking it up but I want to make sure.

Have you tried Jimmy Eat World?, not a huge fan myself but they are pretty fast if not all that heavy. I'm from the UK, so I'm gonna recommend The Jam, The Stranglers and The Clash , but I think everyone should listen to Ian Dury at least once to see if they like his unique style. Also try Blur if you haven't already!
