I have very diverse tastes. In general, I can appreciate and enjoy anything with feeling and quality musicianship. That said, to be among my favorites, a guitar is almost essential. Top Picks tonight: Classic Rock (late 1960's to mid-1970's) Hard Rock, any era 1980's metal Blues, especially SRV and Eric Clapton, but I also like the old guys like Blind Willie Johnson Texican Rock and Roll (Los Lonely Boys!!!)

matthew there is a song i want you to hear, but i don't know if you have it in your collection. that song is called Maggot Brain by Funkadelic. it is seriously one of the best guitar solos, and i think you'll like it a lot.

I just looked it up. I've seen that album cover dozens of times, but I don't have the song in my collection. Time to start looking for it. ![]() Would you believe there's a Wikipedia page for the song? Maggot Brain - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia How have I missed it this long?

thats the one! please do listen to it. other than buying the album from amazon or elsewhere, i don't know anywhere where you will be able to hear the song. i first heard it at uni many years ago because one of my house mates was into that song. he had the 12 inch vinyl which included the song maggot brain and another on the b-side. btw its the song, maggot brain, that i want you to listen to, not the actual album. i haven't heard the actual album, only that song from the album.

Woo hoo! I'm listening to it now...I'll edit this post in 8 minutes with an opinion, once the song is done. So far, the mournful sound of the wah-wah pedal at the beginning of the 2 minute mark is pretty impressive. EDIT: Wow. Very well done song. It's nearly impossible to make an extended guitar solo interesting, and this guy did it for 10:19. Impressive. My favorite bits were around 2:00-3:00 and 8:50-10:00. Thanks, again, CN. I love a good referral. I'm still going to look for and try to buy the album. Definitely. Last edited by matthew : 05-17-2007 at 04:01 PM. | |

Very different things, most have in common a female voice, even if I make exceptions. It can go from heavy bass beat to classical. I need to listen, and either I like it or I don't. I never buy (or dl from jamendo) anything I have not been able to listen to previously.
