| I took up torturing the guitar a few years ago - mainly blues and rock - but I am far from a musician of any type ..... Stopped "playing" - er I mean torturing the guitar about a year ago - but I'm ready for another go at it - have an acoustic and and electric. Also fiddling with GarageBand on the Mac and Acid on the PC |

| Commentator | I want to learn Piano and Violin. I also want to learn Drums but I really doubt I have the coordination to do such a thing. I tried to learn Guitar but I dinnt have the hands for it. I tried to learn the Saxophone but I was in Elementary school at the time and really dinnt give much thought into it. I wish I did. |

| I was always fascinated to learn guitar, even bought a classical guitar few months ago. In the process of teaching myself how to play the guitar, I actually lost my motivation to sit and learn it. |

| most of the students at the music school where i teach, are kids. it is my belief that one needs parental enforcement on practicing if you're ever going to get anywhere on an instrument. (there are exceptions, of course.) once the novelty wears off, most adults are just going to say "fuck this 'go tell aunt rhody' crap!" |

| I play on the piano and occasionally on the saxophone, but now, I haven't practiced much of either, especially the saxophone. It has gone to point where I can only play "Fur Elise" as if I'm half lost, forgetting my place on the different keys and then painfully trying to bring back the melody. I can tell you, from experience, that if you want to be good at something, whether it be playing the piano or being the best quarterback on your football team, you have to practice at it constantly. Never try to be smug that you do not need to improve, because even if at one time you have all the skills, they will erode with time if you do not reinforce them with practice. Go tell Aunt Rhody, Go tell Aunt Rhody, Go tell Aunt Rhody, The old grey goose is dead. I even have the melody running though my head. Ick! That's almost as bad as walking around suddenly noticing you are humming a Spice Girls song. | |
