Fair enough. I'm pleased it wasn't a blind taste test or something.

Bummer. We all start out terrible. With lots of work most people can make it to passable. Perhaps you were at an age where the instructor felt you didn't have the interest level to sustain the commitment long enough to improve. That's a big deal for kids, and a huge reason why I can't and don't play the piano, even though I had three years of lessons as a kid. However, my interest in the guitar has always been high enough to make me press past the "this is hard, I don't want to practice it" stage.

Probably. I was more interested in a bat and a ball at that age, than playing an instrument in a band. Enjoyed singing though, so it worked out. In our grade school, you had to take one or the other. Don't know if it's like that anymore or not.

I play a little guitar and attempt drumming every now and then. I dabbled in a mandolin and a sitar a couple of years ago, and I try to play the harmonica sometimes, but I'm absolutely terrible.

I am a kit drummer for the most part. I am also in the process of learning how to play the guitar and bass guitar. I used to play clarinet, but that skill is long lost.

I play guitar and some keys.

Learning / playing guitar isn't an issue for me. If you want to be a guitarist, getting lessons isn't best. I know a large amount of chord-based songs just off the top of my head, cause they're my favourite songs. I've been playing since christmas and love it, because every now and again I'll try to play a song that I couldn't play the month before and be able to.

So my drive to be able to play all the songs I love teaches me how to play in the process.

If you're only playing guitar because you think it'll be cool but you don't really have any music taste, it's gonna be a bunch more difficult.

I write my own melodies and lyrics, I also sing them, I can play the guitar but its self taught and to my own songs, no biggie, I would look like an idiot if everyone plucked out their guitars and started playing pro, I would just sink back and pretend I am not alive, meantime, it keeps me busy to play and write. Just the melodies and lyrics not the notes to my misfortune.

Guitar and drums. But mostly I sing. I'm currently a member of two choirs: gospel choir + chamber choir, the second for mainly jazz and classical songs.
Love to sing, do it oftly for myself. Can be embarrassing sometimes though.. :-)
