Guys suck, Ashley. They enjoy messing with our feelings - and then sticking us with the rent.

Pink Floyd, Third Eye Blind, Brand New, Porcupine Tree, Jimi Hendrix Experience, A Perfect Circle, and Dredg.

Do you like TBS of the first album (nice guys, other than Adam), or the new TBS (don't know anyone but Adam).

I'm with you, and I love Jazz but didn't go there.

Tommy Emmanuel is an excellent addition. I don't know Jersualem. I've been wanting to check out Orphaned Land lately, any thoughts on them?

This is the first time I've heard of them.

+1 for rjwood's mention of Stevie Wonder. I would add certain parts of The Temptations catalog, too.

Absolutely on rjwood.

Orphaned Land are an Israeli, "Oriental Metal" band (Jerusalem made me think of them). They are kind of prog rock using a bunch of Arabic instrumentation on some songs with a lot of interesting concepts in their albums. A lot of talk of how Jews and Muslims need to interact, etc. Seems like pretty cool stuff, but I haven't picked up an album yet.

Led Zepplin would immediately come to mind, with many others right behind. Too many to name here.

That is a very interesting and eclectic list. You and I like a lot of the same music.

Thanks, I do agree, we both share a somewhat common taste in music. I try to listen to anything at least once. Last.fm and Pandora, along with Sirius Satellite Radio has helped expand my musical boundaries. And of course the internet in general

As much as I love music, and wanted to give my life to music for the longest time, I'm kind of in a weird funk right now. I'm have a real sour taste in my mouth with the whole RIAA thing that's been going on. Some bands have shown their true colors. Metallica being on side, Stuck Mojo being on the other side. Stuck Mojo release a whole album on the net for free in mp3 for drm-free.

If Itunes was available for linux, I might take a closer look at that. I'd much rather support an artist with merch, but sometimes that's just not possible. There are almost too many choices for music out there. I long for the days when bands toured nonstop just to get people to listen to them and to have fun. Too many artists see music as a way to make money instead of a way to make music. That's one reason why I can't stand Pop/hip-hop/(most) rap. I started listening to opera and classical last year after discovering Nightwish. It was something "new" to me, and I've never looked back.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still metal to the core. And anyone looking at me would tell I'm a metal-head, but I also appreciate all kinds of music. I will never understand techno in any way, shape, or form. LOL.
