| Interested participant | Due to prices varying from country to country and even state/province/county, I'm just going to list the starting basics to give you a good start, should you be expecting a little one. *Sleepers - 10-20 * 2 piece pajamas - 10-20 * diapers - 2-4 packages per month (depending on #/package) * stroller * car seat (rear facing and approved by country's auto laws, check internet for recalls) * soothers/pacifiers - get a good name brand to reduce risk of a teething baby gnawing through * receiving blankers - 20+, trust me you'll need them, especially if breast feeding * Penaten cream - diaper rash * hydrocortozone cream - contact dermatitis - caused by baby drool while sleeping, usually found around the ears/cheek and also used for other rashes * baby thermometer - best bet is one of the Braun Tympanic thermometers that use infrared off the eardrum. Takes 1 second to read and is very accurate. It also saves risking the breaking of a glass one if your infant/toddler is squirming. * baby towels - several * baby powder - If you get Johnsons & Johnsons, get the hypoallergenic, the corn starch ones have been found to cause vaginal yeast infections and other problems in girls. * first aid kit - bandaids, Polysporin, tweezers, gauze pads and more * Children's Tylenol liquid - STOCK UP, very handy during teething, earaches, taking away the pain a little after falls - especially if hitting the head * extra $$ for taxi/gas - always handy to have if you don't have a car or for gas for your car for those early morning trips to the hospital if your child wakes up with an earache * your maternity wear - nursing bras, clothes, pajamas, etc. Now you've spent over $1000 in your first month, ya ready? :P More to be listed as I think back to when my daughter & son were born. |
