| It took me a while to find my way here from the Ubuntu forums. Happy to be here. My interest in computers goes back to the Apple ][ days, before the "+", even. These days I do most of my work on a homebuilt machine running Ubuntu 6.06 LTS. I'll attest that Open Source provides a complete solution for the serious home or small business user. But I am somewhat computer agnostic. I use Macs and Wintel machines as well. They all have their problems, but I tend to look for the good in things. When I built an Ubuntu box this past Spring I also got involved in both the Forums and the #ubuntu IRC community. What a pleasant experience that has been. The Ubuntu spirit of helpfulness and kindness was a really nice change from what I encountered with other Linux distros. I hope that the passing of time has mellowed the user experience with, er, "Chapeau", and others. But Ubuntu has made a happy Linux user out of me. Well, anyway, thanks for the invitation to join, and I look forward to sharing in the discussion. Iowa Dave Last edited by Iowa Dave : 10-05-2007 at 10:55 PM. Reason: It reads better this way. |
