| Commentator | Don't have any immediate references, but smoking contributes to atherosclerosis (general term for disease of the arteries). Over time, that is likely to negatively effect blood supply, which in turn means obvious related side-effects. Don't know about the fertilisation side of things though. |

| Devils advocate | i dunno if smoking during sex is such a good idea, might start a little fire... and over all, its bad for your health nomatter what, so its gonne be bad for your sexual organs as well. blood, heart, lungs, brain ... all those are important isnt it that sex is as exhausting as running a few miles? |

The risk of fire is a terrible thing, but if ppl are willing to look stupid whle doing it, it might enhance sex. Lack of oxygen and increased heart rate might tickle someones fancy. ![]()

| I stopped smoking 13 years ago, but I saw no difference between the two. |

| I'd love to be able to have that rite of smoking a wonderful cigar or a pipe...you know that is when smoking is a fulfilling moment as can be many others. I'm not up to it...I smoke cigs and really hooked on them! Last edited by xyz : 11-04-2007 at 08:10 PM. |

| I remember times when I just couldn't go without a cigarette. I used to get a nicotine fit if I didn't get one! Now, I can't even stand cigarette smoke. |

| Thank you! Wore the patch for a few days and just didn't go back. Sort of like cold turkey. Besides, my doc was trying to get me to quit smoking for a few years before that. A friend of mine whose mom I used to date when he was a little boy - HE started smoking now!! Last edited by Daquan13 : 11-05-2007 at 08:25 AM. |

| Did you gain lots of weight? I'm asking because I know I would and I like how much I weigh now. |

| People say that when you stop smoking, you gain some weight by picking up an eating habit, but I don't remember doing that. Last edited by Daquan13 : 11-05-2007 at 04:42 PM. |

| Stirrer Of Shit | Your body burns energy/calories by processing the poisons out of your system the cigarettes put in, and repairing the constant damage to your lungs. Then there's also the possibility you might want to eat more. Being no two people are alike, your mileage may vary. Give up the cigarettes and worry about your body composition as a seperate issue. |

On a side note I think the same applies to other things like alcohol too. If you need to switch to a dependency on 12-step meetings (aka God) or whatever, you haven't really made the decision. Gaining some weight after quitting is likely to happen to those who (consciously or subconsciously) convince themselves they are so dependent that they need to replace the cigs with something else. If you do take that route, it's wise to choose a healthy food that won't pile on the weight. For example, I know someone who used fresh strawberries and it worked wonders for her.
