lol I wasnt surprised he came out and told people he was gay. I just laughed and said took him long enough. But apparently he said he held off telling people, because he didnt want rumors going around thinking bad things about the bad since they were so sucessful at the time.

Maybe it was a wise choice to wait after the bad broke up. But I really think it surprised to me many people.

Although I would be surprised if Joey Fatone came out and said he was gay than I would be surprised cause he was the one I liked.

On another note, boy bands suck.

I agree with that. I have several gay friends (you meet one on campus, you meet them all) but I also know a few straight friends who, for lack of a better phrase, "turned gay."

And there's a difference between realizing something that was there all along (like a guy I knew in high school), and just getting wrapped up in what other people are doing. One of my best friends from college (who I'll call Jane Doe) hung out with the same gay guys as I did, and was good friends with the lesbian girls I would chat with in the halls. Except after a while, she only hung out with gay guys and lesbian girls. She went with them to gay clubs and bars, and by the end of the year, she was suddenly bi for a month and then a lesbian.

And I have to say, a lot of the gays and lesbians I met in college were like recruiters! They'd say, "I'm going to make so-and-so gay!" and then set about trying. It was sad. Even the "normal" gay people thought they were crazy.

I've never been cool with it (but of course I won't tell her that). And I haven't been cool with it because before all of that happened, she'd open up to me about stuff (which she still does). And sometimes, she'd tell me all about these guys she liked, some slightly graphic things about her and her boyfriend, and it was clear as day that she genuinely worshiped men. But a lot of the ones on campus didn't date her (she had a boyfriend at home!) so.. I always felt like her case was just convenience. She got immersed in this gay community, and wanted to be a part of something.

People who are gay/lesbian just because they can be, because they have friends who are, are complete losers. People need to do things for themselves, not to fit in.

And that might have been too off topic, but too bad.

What Lance Bass did took balls, and I respect him for that. Still I must laugh because he now helps along the stereotype "boy bands are gay" right along.

I'll agree to that, it takes guts. But still, boy bands are terrible to begin with, so who cares if they're typecast as gay? It's a pointless argument. So people think they're gay. Who cares?

I'm tired of the whole gay "issue." For a long time it just hasn't seemed worth my time defending something that doesn't have any effect on my life. It's like, why would I defend wine over beer when I don't drink alcohol?

I really don't care about gay people and their societal struggles. If that makes me a bad person, so be it. I'm not going to fucking march for their rights. I'm not some bleeding heart. But I will support them in votes and in person. I care about my gay friends, but I'm so tired of the way they make everything into a gay rights issue. I just want to tell them to suck it up and deal with life - to stop being so fucking dramatic about everything. They think struggle is people looking at you funny. They don't know what real struggle is.

Good for him to have the courage to finally come out! It's always hard and it's extra hard if you are a celebrity. Boybands are gay? Can you name some other gay members of some boybands? Because I can't. I don't even consider boybands 'gay' lol stupid people do that. And I'm very very supportive towards gay's because they need all support they can get. And I'm happy to see that gays have finally been accepted more or less but still in modern world. Not talking about islamic countries.. And we all should be happy for Lance not like omg.. too bad he isn't straight he is ruined now. like what?! he isn't ruined, he is happy.

Woah there horsey, I was only joking. It's a common American slur to call something you don't like "gay." I am not typecasting anyone, just stating fact in a humorous way (see sarcasm in the dictionary). Also note I am not homophobic at all babe, as a matter of fact I constantly defend homosexuals in my community on almost a daily basis.

p.s. What Lance Bass did was amazing . What he did is slowing pushing me to come out to people about my true self and not care what they think.

I always Thought Lance was Cute but Justin and JC were cutier so I guess it didn't really bother me. Mean to be Honest he kinda looked the part even acted the part now if JC came out and said He was Gay I'd flip mean he's hott and Justin used to be eww. Anyways I think Lance had alot of guts comming out ot old fans like he did.
