Default Chalk one up for the good guys

Source

Its the middle of the night. A guy hears someone starting his car. He grabs a weapon and goes outside. A thief is driving away in his vehicle. The thief does a U-turn and accelerates toward the owner. The owner fires his weapon and puts a bullet in the thief's head.

This is good news. I'm interested in hearing why anyone thinks its bad news.

HI Ras..
This is a toughie, I say this because I have children..what if it was my son who was the driver of the vehicle..man..bummer..

However...sounds to me like ( self defense ) its it not? the crook was trying to make the man he stoled from road kill..its like that case in New York where the man was to try and rape a woman in the park,,an outsider stopped it..then the rapist sued the outsider.

Likewise you hear bizarre stories of burglars suing people who's home they were trying to rob..in the process the people shot the burglar, not killing him but immobilizing him..then the burglar turns around and sues the people..We are living in a very un-fair time as we speak..something/nothing...nothing/something..its all by chance on the returns.

NO..I dont think its bad news..if only people would learn by it..but it just keeps happening..people are fearless in the wrong areas of life.

I don't think you'll get any takers on this being bad news, except perhaps some 'all life is precious' argument. Personally, I don't find it particularly good or bad news, it's just a sad example of the times we live in, and the selfishness of human nature in general.

That would make you the mother of a dead attempted murderer and car thief.

What if it was your son standing in his front yard with the guy who stole his car accelerating at him to run him over?

I don't see how it has much to do with the times, before there were car thieves, there were horse theives.

Hi Ras
Yes it would make me the mother of a dead attempted murderer. I am speaking in general to those who have children who have committed crimes of this nature..though my heart would break..and my soul torn..he will pay the penalty.. if it leads to capital punishment then the justice has been advocated on behalf of the victim. Its the price one pays for these kinds of atrocities.

Likewise if it were my son being victimized by the car thief, then in his moment of despair no rules apply..especially in self defense. I would not only condone the use of the weapon itself..but be a supplier as well. Granted he is educated in using a firearm and for that reason outside of hunting..but this is the case for a weapon period. One must do what one must do..dont you agree?

Yes, I do agree. A person has the right and responsibility to defend himself.
