| Stirrer Of Shit | I was given an IQ test when I was a teenager - about 14. I scored in the 98th percentile. I would likely score much lower now. All those years of "hard livin'" since have probably slowed things down. My cognitive abilities all work well, but I think they just take longer. I think there are a lot of factors that IQ tests don't account for. They really aren't that useful, and one shouldn't be that concerned with how well they do on them. Raw intelligence is wasted if one doesn't have a curious mind and intellectual honesty. Its also useless if someone lacks critical thinking skills. Without the framework of being able to think logically, someone with a lot of raw intelligence is little more than a good chess player. The good news is, critical thinking skills are very easy to learn and practice, it just takes a little willingness. |

| I never joined. I took their test once (online) a couple years ago and qualified. To get in you have to actually go somewhere and take the test under supervision, which is a bit out of my way because I'd never go to their clubs or anything. |

| Stirrer Of Shit | How does a person benefit from being a member of Mensa? What do they have to offer? |

| Stirrer Of Shit | My kids are very intelligent, and one of them has been getting just a little bit of an attitude about it, so I explained for him that raw intelligence will get a person nowhere if they don't have ambition and learn enough facts about the world to apply common sense. |

| Well there's a difference between intelligence and IQ. IQ measures only one type or one aspect of intelligence (depending on the model you use; psychologists are constantly bickering over what "intelligence" is, if there are different kinds or if intelligence is a conglomeration of subfactors). |
