Default Sdkub

Why don't you just pull the plug, learn from the experience, and move on.

You only need to spend a few moments reading the recent threads to know that that would be a good decision.

Wow, must be a long post coming up.

From Sour grapes - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sour grapes is the false denial of desire for something sought but not acquired; to denigrate and feign disdain for that which one could not attain. This metaphor originated from the fable The Fox and the Grapes by Aesop, where the protagonist fox fails to reach some grapes hanging high up on a vine, retreats, and rationalizes that the grapes are probably sour anyway. The phenomenon has been seen as a challenge to the rational-actor view within the social sciences, with its significance debated by scholars such as Jon Elster and Steven Lukes.

The phrase is sometimes also used to refer to one expressing, in an unsportsmanlike or ungracious way, anger or frustration at having failed to acquire something (i.e. being a "sore loser"), regardless of whether the party denies their desire for the item (i.e. hypothetical girl Joumanna being jealous of the fact that no one buys her lunch). Not including the denial of desire is technically a slipshod extension of the metaphor because it is inconsistent with the phrase's origin in the fable and the notion of the grapes being declared "sour".

No sour grapes. I volunteered to be a moderator. When it became more work than it was worth on this dying forum, I quit.

Oh, and your continual crying to staff all the time about how you were not breaking any rules, and were being persecuted, got pretty old too.

For someone that advertises themselves as the "Voice of Reason", you are truly one world class dumb ass.

That took you ten minutes?

LOL

Please do tell (don't worry about any notions of expectation of privacy - duh, you haven't) what in your opinion constituted this "continual crying to staff all the time about how you were not breaking any rules, and were being persecuted." I hold you free to disclose any truthful correspondence between me and the staff that you saw before you, uh, moved on from your moderator position.

In the event any prospective new members read that little snippet, this forum is not dying. Far from it! It's just got its feet and is growing.

JD history lesson 101:

This forum was began by owners or participants of another forum geared towards linux users. On that forum's site for some time, there was a splash screen that advertised the beginning of this forum. There was a surge of cross pollination from there to here for a brief time, but it didn't stick, and the former owners, for whatever reason, hastily gave up.

The core of members here who like how this forum works remained and continue to participate here. The staff and owner has always had a great vision for the forum and it continues to attract new members slowly but surely.

Obviously, there have been some here and there who's agenda wasn't matched by what SD offers, and most of them moved on without drama. The rest of them come back and pull stunts, have little fits, or try to disrupt on their way out. Pay no attention.

What exactly is this screenshot of yours taken in the middle of the night supposed to suggest?

Wow, the desperation is remarkable. Please seek help.

If you note, the screenshot was taken at 6:02 AM EDT. The members in Europe have been up for quite a while.

It's now 8:40 AM EDT, and it's 2:40 AM HST on Oahu.

Don't you have anything else to do?

PS

It would be a cold day in hell before I was on this forum at 2:40 in the morning.

Oh gosh, I'm devastated. My odd sleeping habits have been exposed. You got me! I'm up at 3:00 AM! How will I ever live it down!?

Anyway, you didn't answer my question yet - what is the screenshot supposed to indicate?

You're my personal "Chatty Rasczak" doll.

If you pull the string, he'll say something.

Great fun!

Lovin' it.
