So many people, will this forum clog?

People seem to have flooded here, how do we keep the forum from clogging? It would seem like a snowball effect to me, many posts means that people wont be able to read them all well, causing duplicate posts, making the main points even harder to find.
Ofcourse we could just post less, but there has to be some posting, since it is a discussion forum, not a reading one. The following can help.
-Keep posts brief, without sacrificing data.
-Try read earlier posts well as much reasonable.
-If the message is to a specific person, use private messages. Perhaps some of those private messages should be public, but directed? (hmm i may have voilated this one)
Also, an idea is to try use paralel wikis on what has been covered from all sides, but i am not at all sure that would work. Risk of writing and deletion-wars, but may also increase clarity, and be worth a try.

Keep it from clogging?

After being here for what... 2 days.....and seeing where this place is all about... I choose to leave as I can see the writing on the wall. That should help!

It's bad that I won't be seeing a few folks. A few folks I have enjoyed nice discussions with in the past.

Well, you see, the internet is a series of tubes...

Frankly, alot of people find it easier to just post on a topic based upon the title if the topic is 20+ pages long. Nothing can change human behavior...cept their environment.

I don't think this is as big of a deal as you think. All forums "change" as they grow in size- I'd be more concerned with an influx of idiots, freepers, /b/tards, etc. IOW, the quality as opposed to the quantity.

This should all be applied anyway.

I think things won't get to swamped, topics will most likely turn into mega topics. But I guess time will tell..

Good moderation will make things work. Good mods will merge threads that are duplicates, stop flame wars, and keep things on track.

Overmoderation is a good way to ruin a forum. Moderation should be kept to a minimum- deleting blatant trolls and extremely offensive posts, inline pornography, links to goatse, links to kiddy porn, etc.

I'm moderated a couple of forums over the years. It's a little like trying to herd cats...

Hehe, now i feel the forum has gone much quieter. Bit too quiet perhaps. I guess that people started more actively coming in from Ubuntu-forums. Where from other did people notice this forum, actually?

Actually, I think you're getting the clog feeling is because ubuntu-geek merged us with another forum, called Degrasi(whatever that is)

It is a tv series that was/is especially popular among a certain demographic. Their site was pretty active, but the management felt like it was time to move on, so we gladly gave them a home here among us.

As for the herding cats thing, I find a vacuum cleaner is effective
