Living forever. No. There are too many relationships that would go and come , go and come with living inifinitely. Despite the obvious benefit of watching human society grow , or in some cases else decline, it would be a horrible emotional and mental wreck. Would you have children? You would have to watch your children die. I dont think that is something I could consider happening.

Would I live to see the day that Linux dominated the desktop and Microsoft was no more? On a more serious note, no, I wouldn't like to live forever. I have two daughters and I agree with what Compiled Kernel said. Watching your family go, before your, would be too distressing to want to carry on.

There's no value in life if everyone is eternal. There's no thrill in life, no ultimate goal, none of that. There's no day when you wake up and say, if I die tomorrow, would it all be worth it? There would be no motivation if there was always a tomorrow. I guess a better question would be, would you rather live forever or die in three hours?

If that were the question, I STILL think I'd choose dying in 3 hours... but if I had to actually make that choice I can't say what I would do. 3 hours isn't enough time to get things ready.

Depends on your definition... does it come with all of the other parts of getting older: wrinkles, arthritis, frailty, feeble mind, etc? Or is the good kind: forever young & healthy? Or is it the traditional definition that every religion espouses: the soul is eternal, meaning that you're already going to live forever, it's up to you where it's going to be. -Dave

No way. Everything has a beginning and an end. I've gotten the beginning part done, and eventually I'll get to the end. Like Kame, I think it's important to have a final goal, a way to judge how well you're doing. I'd rather die in 3 hours than live forever. I agree with PT that 3 hours isn't enough time, but forever...well, eternity is just way too much time. I think it could also be an interesting look into what the priorities are in your life...what do you do if you only have 3 hours to live?

I've changed my answer. If I could just hibernate for as long as I wanted to whenever I wanted to, I would choose eternity. That way if I get bored, I can sleep for 50 years, wake up and see what I've missed. That would keep it more interesting.

| Interested participant | Interesting question. I originally thought "that would be cool", but then I realized that if I was eternal, I would have to experience the death of my children and that is something I don't think I could take. So no, I wouldn't want to be eternal. |

Well, like most girls I stopped aging at 29. Lately most people who know me would tell you I'm going backwards. In a few more decades I'll have never been. ![]()
