| Level 37 Bureaucrat | Hey, has anyone else, besides me, here made the foolish decision to buy a Playstation 3? ![]() I'm confident it's the best of the current generation of consoles (wii/360/ps3) but I think the money might have better been spent on a pci-e graphics card and a cheap laptop. Resistance, GTA: IV, Super Rub a dub, anyone? ![]() |

| Nah. 600$ is just a bit too much. i am going for the Wii because its something new, and its a bit easy on my budget ( If you ask me, I'd say the PS3 is Sony's last or before last console)Extreme Coder |

| Level 37 Bureaucrat | I'm not generally a console gamer. I might have better spent the money on a new graphics card or a Macbook, but I wouldn't have bought the Wii or the 360. They're already dated machines, the PS3's power (and it really has plenty of it) will outstrip technologically the other two consoles by a mile. The graphics quality of PS3 games is currently better than PC games. That'll change in virtually no time at all, but the ps3's still a very powerful platform. I anticipate the next post to be about how it's not all about graphics and physis, and the gameplay's the most important thing! "build it, and they will come" - the ps3's got the power and the games will be made to match it. I think comparing launch titles is a poor way to choose a console. I've played the Wii, and I didn't like the controls at all, for the most part - it's a gimmick. |

| Commentator | My girlfriend and I bought a Wii. Controls aside, I like Nintendo and I think they are one of the few companies left who focus on the "Games should be fun" philosophy. The Wii was cheaper than its competitors. If I had the money for a PS3, I still sure as hell wouldn't buy one. PC's will outperform it in months, and I think that the PS/XBOX style controllers are inferior to a mouse and keyboard when it comes to Strategy and FPS games. The cell processor is a great thing, don't get me wrong, but I more look forward to seeing it used in computer science research than powering games whose graphical grandeur will be surpassed in less than a year. Also, as a gamer, I wanted to support what Nintendo is trying to do with its new control system - give us more ways to play! I can deal with poor graphics - I can't deal with a price tag comparable with what I would call a great gaming PC. The Wii is cheap, fun for myself and my friends, family and whoever stops by. Give me only Metroid and Zelda, and I will say I have my money's worth. Last edited by FaceLeg : 05-23-2007 at 04:12 AM. Reason: Not telling |

Long live Nintendo! (Down with Sony) Towards Xbox I am indifferent (chipped they make great media hubs). Quote:
And I think the legions of FPS fans would agree - keyboard/mouse is best for FPS games. Also I believe it is the only option for strategy games - hotkeys require a keyboard! Whether you find a game fun or not is your opinion. I Happen to disagree with your statement that all FPS games are unimaginative and boring. In any genre clones are inevitable, but there will always be sprinkling of wonderful titles, like Half Life 1 & 2, Prey, Doom? Last edited by FaceLeg : 05-23-2007 at 05:42 PM.

| Eligible for a custom title | I may eventually go PS3, but I have to wait until prices come down. Students already live off ramen, I don't want to make it harder to buy the veggie-friendly ramen. I don't do console wars. Just not my thing. I pick a console for it's game titles. Not the graphics, processors, etc. Most of the games I like are on PlayStation. I like my Grand Theft Auto series, Tomb Raiders, Frequency, various sports titles for PS(pick a number), and the Harry Potter series. And, when I'm in my rare egotistical mood, I can claim the controller was designed just for my hands, because it's such a perfect fit it just had to be made for me alone. ![]() |

| Drank to much Mountain Dew | Read what? I compared the prices in the stores for Wii and PS3 and Xbox360 and concluded that Nintendos games have the same insanely high prices as it has always had, while PS3 and Xbox360 games are cheaper. Of course this applies mostly to Nintendo brand games, while some 3rd party games are cheaper. I don't really know what games are comming for the PS3, but it is the PS3 so you can bet your sweet ass that some great games are comming ![]() |

![]() So, yes, you can get a great gaming PC way cheaper than an PS3. But what you can't get for that PC is all the greatest games comming for PS3 like for example Metal Gear Solid.

I remember when I used to buy N64 games too, and in the UK they were more expensive than any of the Wii titles are now, so I doubt they're keeping their games priced similar to their old cartidge games. They didn't even do that with the GameCube.

| I'm not as think as you drunk. | Lol as much as i would love to be able to buy all 3 just so i can have the best of all 3 worlds, its difficult for me to lay down $500( the price for the ps3 and the 360 full as of now in the US). Besides with the Wii i really dont have to worry about any games out there that i wouldnt want my 9 year old brother playing, besides the new MK. My store just recently had a game night where we hooked up all of the newer consoles on the huge plasma TVs as a kewl way for everyone to hang out and for a great way to educate us on the new systems. I played the Gears of war on the 360 and i loved it, popping around the corner and throwing the chain saw in my friends forehead was awesome. At the same time we also tried out the Wii sports and my arms are still sore from the weird ways that i did the different sports. I love the ps3 just because i have been an aved Twisted metal fan ever since the original came out on the PSone, I am also partial to the Zelda series, Mario series and the Metroid series also. As for the 360 i am very leary because of all of the horror stories and just because its comes from microsoft.... |

| I bought one and I am not disapointed what so ever, yes the launch titles weren't the best, but you cant judge the future of the console just from them. I own the Wii, PS3 and 360 so here is my 2 cents on it: Wii vs PS3 OK for this arguement I say you can't really compare them because the consoles are aimed at completely different crowds, the wii is aimed for younger gamers and for a more 'hands on' experience, the PS3 is aimed at people who want next gen graphics, more adult based games such as GTA and MGS, and for people who want it for media purposes, e.g. bluray, dvd etc. PS3 vs 360 Being an owner of both systems I can honestly say this arguement is very close, purely because xbox live is brilliant, the PSN is also very good, but xbox live just feels much better to me, e.g. being able to display your gamerscore online etc. For games obviously the 360 is going to win for now due to the fact it has been out a lot longer than the PS3. Graphics wise I would say the PS3 For media once again the PS3 without a doubt, I can stream music and video over my network flawlessly, I can watch bluray dvds, I can surf the web, I have a 60gb hdd to store my films on, this hard drive is also easily replaceable so you can add more space if desired. I personally prefer my PS3 over my 360 and Wii, even though there are clearly good points about the 360 and the Wii. To come out with posts saying "PS3 owns, the wii and 360 suck" "Wii ftw, ps3 and 360 sucks" etc. just proves that your a fanboy who can't take into consideration the pros and cons of various competitors of a system you like because your head is the slightest bit wedged in a dark place that smells a bit funky. |

| Well i prefer the Wii, but i haven't used either the PS3 or the 360, but i know that I'm usually better at Wii-style games, whereas, with the other buttons-only consoles, I'm pretty hopeless (I'm just no good at pushing buttons to move a car/character). Another reason why i like the Wii is that it can do things more realistically, e.g.: You can toss a pancake out of a frying pan by doing the same motion that you would in real life, but on other consoles, all that you can do is mash a button--not very realistic. |
