I used to be on it ALL the time. Now not so much, but I still occasionally go in and see how different things have gotten, perhaps go mess with people in Hard Alley who are trying to get their e-freak on ![]()

I've never been in myself. Truth to tell their website scared me away. It sounded sort of like a real-estate pyramid scheme. Seems they might attract more women if they stopped promoting the economics of their world. Don't get me wrong, I can spend as much as the next girl, but I enjoy it best when I don't look at the price tags.

I checked it out for technical reasons (the Linux client software), all this stuff is normally Windows orientated so when I saw that the Linux client was tested on Debian, I jumped in. The client runs perfectly on Debian by the way, I created a character called "Haviu Hird" (Chandler Bing was taken), and went for a stroll. I saw a lot of strange people running around, one looked like a bondage queen, andother looked just like my carachter "Boy Next Door" (he was carrying an olympic torch ?) I am not really a gamer, nor do I have the time to be, but I like what they have built, from a technical point of view. Imagine if all the people from Ubuntu Forums built a town.... that could be interesting, imagine how a flame war would turn out.. in 3D, Lol! There would be people bashing eachother all over the place. Maybe the moderators would arrive in brown and orange uniforms to break up the combatants. So, my verdict is "Technically Interesting, Has potential. But not really for me."

You CAN make monthly payments (9.95) which gives you a weekly allowance and lets you buy land, but it's definitely not necessary. I bought a plot of land last year in October, for all told about 20 bucks (USD), and I just sold it last month for $200! There's definitely a big real estate market. But you don't need to pay anything to ahve fun.

Starting with 20 and going up till the price of 200 in just a year! I did hear about some lucky second life people who make like $6000 a month! | |
