Default Prime or Not Prime

Okay, this game is simple. I will provide a number. The person below me , without using a calculator, should say if its Prime, or Not Prime. In mathematics, a prime number (or a prime) is a natural number that has exactly two (distinct) natural number divisors, which are 1 and the prime number itself. ie: 2..it can only be divided by 2 and 1 evenly..so lets start this up! so say if its prime or not then provide a number!

This one's easy enough. Not Prime. Divide it by 67 and you get 101.

qtwerp I guess you are supposed to provide another number...?

Unless it's not at all like the "The person below me" game.

The thread starter was wrong. It shouldn't be possible to divide by 2.

"In mathematics, a prime number (or a prime) is a natural number that has exactly two (distinct) natural number divisors, which are 1 and the prime number itself."

The number you mentioned end evenly, and can therefore be divided by 2.

Easy one: 109

Never mind the lecture, I misread.

Ah. I thought it was strange that he was going to be doling out all the numbers.

119...not prime. Divides by 17.

Not prime, divisible by at least 3 and 7, after which I stopped checking.

Prime. How do we really know it's a prime anyway?
Proving it's not is pretty easy once we found out which number to divide it with.

I found your number here:

Sorry, I cheated. :s I won't pick the next one. v_v

kaminix: I know of only one "easy" way to find a probable prime, but it's not something I could do without program assistance (2^76492 mod 76493 anyone?). I looked up sieves as an alternative, but they seem pretty useless too without help, unless there is some kind of sieve method specifically for larger numbers that I haven't come across yet.

59711 is still up there if anyone's willing to tackle it

Seriously? 424344 is NOT prime. It's divisible by 2, as is any even number
